RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Mohan Bhagwat appealed to all patriotic citizens of the country to organise public programmes to pay homage to the victims of Mumbai terror attack and express solidarity with those fighting against the terror valiantly so that all of us can live in peace with dignity and honour. ?Terrorism is a war perpetrated by fanatical religio-political elements on democratic and civilised world. National consensus and will is the first prerequisite for defeating these elements. I call upon the countrymen to express solidarity with the armed forces and other agencies engaged in this war. The sacrifices of each and every brave Indian must be remembered and honoured by the entire nation,? he said in a statement issued in New Delhi on November 30.
Shri Bhagwat further said: ?The entire nation is relieved over the successful elimination of the terrorists who attacked various important installations in Mumbai. That our commandos have done this splendid job with utmost precision and skill without any assistance from outside is a matter of great pride to all of us.
?This attack reminds us once again that we can no longer afford to take terrorism causally. It is important that our nation enhances counter-terrorism capability much more. A serious and renewed approach to tackle terrorism is the call of the hour. Major attitudinal and systemic changes have to be brought in. I hope that the discourse on terrorism would hereafter transcend narrow political considerations and the nation will demonstrate maturity and sincerity to deal with this threat.
?It is an acknowledged fact that terrorism is a global phenomenon. While our nation has been a victim of this wave of jehadi terror for more than 15 years, many nations in the world are victims of the same terror today. Time has come for all the democratic and peace-loving nations to come together to uproot this menace from the face of the earth. The entire nation watched with bated breath minute-by-minute developments at Mumbai. It is very saddening that more than 200 people have lost their lives. A good number of security personnel were also martyred. Those killed include many eminent people and senior police and security officials. The hospitality staff of the targeted hotels laid down their lives while saving their guests thus upholding the great Indian tradition of Atithi devo bhava (Guest is God). With a heavy heart the nation pays its homage to all of them,? he added.
