A high level delegation of minority communities of Indian origin and the Scheduled Tribes of north-eastern India drew the attention of the National Commission of Minorities (NCM) and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, to the oppression and brutalities being committed on them by the Christians.
The delegation that met the NCM chairman on September 23, included Shri Bhikkhu, Dr Dhammapriya, chairman, Bahujanhitaya Education Trust, Tripura, Shri Arun Kumar Chakma, president, District Council Katlang Village, Mizoram, Shri Nabakishore Jamatiya, Clan Chief, Jamatiya Hoda, Tripura, Shri Ramapada Jamatiya, spokesperson, Jamatiya Hoda, Tripura, Sardar Sukhpal Singh, coordinator, Dharma Raksha Samiti Punjab and Dr Surendra Kumar Jain, central secretary of Vishva Hindu Parishad.
The delegation said the Buddhist and Sikh communities of India have become the specific and immediate target of Christian expansionist aggression. It requested the NCM to call a halt to the Christian missionaries and ask them to wind up their conspiracies to convert or eliminate the minority communities of Indian origin. The missionaries must also be stopped from destroying the special indigenous identities and rich holistic cultural and religious traditions of the Vanvasi population of India.
The delegation warned if the effective steps are not taken in this direction, the Christian'saggressive designs and expansionism at the cost of indigenous moorings would lead to social tensions and clashes at places that are neither in the interests of Bharat nor those of the minority communities of the country. ?Instead of a monotonous world view and paradigm, Bharat has a multi-dimensional culture and religion. But the Christians are out to destroy this holistic world view and character by monopolistically Christianising the whole country, which must be a matter of serious concern for all of us,? the delegation said in a memorandum submitted to the NCM.
The memorandum said the Christians had been hatching conspiracies in north-east India to convert the Buddhist communities, but in their evil designs they are not being able to have much headway. That is why, on June 24, 2008, they attacked and burnt down an important religious and educational institution of the region, viz., the Dhamma DIPA International Buddhist Academy at Manu Bankul, Tripura. The Chakma (ST) Buddhists have already been under their attack for long. Now, they are being threatened with planting of a church on a Chakma school land in one of their villages, and misusing government influence efforts are being made to forcibly occupy their land. Buddhists are stopped by Christians from establishing monasteries on their own land. Repeated attacks are made on them with the aim to forcefully convert them. Frustrated by failure in achieving their targeted success, they burnt down many Buddhist temples and houses. Many a time church-inspired terrorist organisations like the NLFT and Tripura Tiger Force attack Chakma houses and Buddhist temples and mercilessly beat up the occupants.
The delegation further pointed out that under their aggressive expansionist evangelization agenda, the evangelists have been specifically targeting the Sikh community. The conversion network has spread its tentacles in virtually every district of Punjab. Due to this, tensions and clashes are simmering at many places. ?Chandraveer Kaur, a descendant of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, had revealed sometime ago that pressures had been mounted on her to convert to Christianity. On her complaint, the then Chairman of NCM, Sardar Tarlochan Singh, had clearly declared that conversion of Sikhs must stop otherwise it would lead to social tensions and clashes. Many complaints of conversions of Sikhs through inducements of overseas jobs and visas were received. Due to partial success in converting Sikhs, the Christians got so much emboldened that a pastor forced a converted young man to set fire to a handbook of Shri Guru Granth Sahib,? the memorandum added.
Besides the minority communities of Indian origin, the Scheduled Tribes of Bharat have also remained particular targets of their proselytisation radars and foot soldiers. They get a free run in the north-east of India to implement their evil designs due to political protection and patronage. They stop them from observing their indigenous religious and cultural traditions, and if they refuse to fall into their trap, the Christians murder them and even their saints. Shantikali Maharaj was murdered only due to the fact that he refused to abandon his dharma. NLFT has many a time fired upon the Jamatiya society in order to prevent them from worshipping Goddess Saraswati and Goddess Durga.
?Many terrorist organisations of north-east are funded and run by the church and the sole aim of this unholy alliance is to turn the entire north-east into a Christian land. Many a time, pastors with weapons and explosives have been nabbed. Their links with the HUJI and the ISI are now an established fact and it poses a great threat to the security of the nation and integrity of the country. In order to do away with the identity of the Scheduled Tribes, the missionaries are forcing them to change their indigenous dress codes, traditions, festivals, language, etc.
Some Scheduled Tribes, like the Jamatiyas, have developed some institutions similar to Panchayat in order to address the crimes and other problems in their communities. But in order to save the criminals, the Christians convert them and this leads to social tensions and clashes. Jamatiya, an important Scheduled Tribe of the north-east, has been putting up a strong resistance against the evil designs of conversion. That is why, their chiefs and other members are ambushed time and again and the church-inspired terrorist outfits kill those who resist conversions. In order to save their religion, over 40,000 members of Riyang Vanvasi community of Mizoram has been compelled to leave their homes and hearths and take refuge in Tripura. The missionaries do not even hesitate to trap the youth of the north-east in the drug network,? the memorandum added.
