Foreign Minister of Nepal Shri Upendra Yadav said the new Government of Nepal would not allow any kind of anti-India activity whether it is by Islamic forces or any other group in Nepal. He was speaking at a felicitation ceremony held in New Delhi on August 28 to felicitate him after his becoming Foreign Minister of Nepal. Shri Yadav was in New Delhi on an official visit.
RSS National Executive Member Shri Indresh Kumar, senior RSS Pracharak Shrikant Joshi, RSS National Executive Member Shri Ram Madhav, BJP spokesperson Shri Prakash Javadekar, former Union Minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Delhi BJP president Dr Harsh Vardhan, Deputy Leader of BJP in Lok Sabha Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Gen. (retd.) Narendra Singh Malik, Ambassador of Nepal Dr Durgesh Mansingh, BJP central office secretary Shri Shyam Jaju and some senior journalists were also present on the occasion. Delhi Pradesh convener of Himalaya Parivar Shri Anil Gupta convened the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Indresh Kumar said Bharat and Nepal shared very close relations since centuries. Now in the form of democracy the relations will further become more cordial. As India wishes peace at the border and speedy development for herself, we also wish for a happy and prosper Nepal, he added.
Shri Upendra Yadav further said Nepal is passing through the phase of a major change. Nepal is facing many kinds of gaps in the form of economic, administrative, poverty, backwardness, etc. and now the major challenge before the new dispensation is to bridge all these gaps. He said India always supported and cooperated Nepal in all circumstances. When any Nepali visits India he feels at home. He said much has to be done in Nepal to restore peace as most of the Maoist fighters still have weapons with them. The major challenge before us is to rehabilitate them and bring them into the mainstream. A new Constitution has also to be framed and the work of development that has been neglected for many decades has to be brought back on the right track. He said the relations between India and Nepal have been very strong and it is very tough for anybody to destablise them.
Shri Yadav also spoke about the devastation done by Kosi River in Bihar this year. He said Nepal is planning major initiatives to get rid of every year'sfloods and also to generate hydro power from the rivers. He said industrialisation is very difficult without electricity and Nepal could become a power-house in the whole Asia if the country milks the potential of hydro power by constructing dams over its rivers.
Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad drew the attention of Shri Yadav to the growing Islamic fundamentalism in Nepal and also the growing political untouchability towards Hindutva forces.
