Bal Shivir in Siliguri Character, patriotism shape the youth

A three-day Shivir of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was organised at the premises of Birsa Munda Shishu Shiksha Kendra at Salabari near Siliguri, West Bengal. Inaugurating the Shivir on April 4, Capt. (retired) Shri J.K. Sengupta said the country would make progress only with the spirit of patriotism and awareness among the countrymen, which the RSS has been practicing since its inception. The Shivir concluded on April 6. A total of 422 children under the age of 10 to 14, and 82 Shikshaks and Prabandhaks, from 77 places of the district, participated in the camp.

The camp had been organised to expand the Sangh work in rural areas of the district. Vibhag Sanghachalak, Shri Sukumar Kundu and Zila Sanghachalak, Shri Satyapad Pal were also present on the occasion.

Narrating the incidents from the life of Dhruva, Prahalad, Vivekanada and Ramkrishan Paramhansa, Uttar Bang Prant Pracharak Shri Adwait Charan Dutt said the good samskar and patriotism among the citizens helps a nation to become strong. Extending the best wishes of New Year to the participants, the senior Pracharak, Shri Keshavrao Dixit said the Indian method of calculating time is very scientific. He called upon the participants to celebrate the Hindu the New Year beginning on Chaitra Shukla Patipada, instead of the English New Year beginning on January 1. He further said the knowledge of the glorious history of the country is must for the protection of the culture. He called upon the people to help in the task of uniting the Hindu society.

Chief guest Dr Amitabh Mishra praised the efforts of the Sangh for national awakening. He hoped that the Sangh would be able to make the nation strong. Prior to it, the participants performed Surya Namaskar, yogasans and displayed the ghosh. More than 1,000 people of the adjoining areas were also present at the concluding ceremony. Shri Sunil Shah, Zila Vyavastha Pamukh of RSS, proposed a vote of thanks.
