A three-day training camp of Rashtriya Sewa Bharati activists, engaged in rural development, cow protection, organic farming, environment protection, water harvesting and cottage industries, was organised at Surabhi Sodh Sansthan, Dagmagpur (Mirjapur) in Uttar Pradesh from March 1 to 3. More than 200 activists from various states including Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Utkal, West Bengal and Assam participated in the camp.

Addressing the activists, RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi stressed the need to reduce dependency on government and said the development of private resources is must for rural development. He said literacy is very important for the fast development of the nation and there should be effective literacy campaign all over the country to make people fully literate. ?Initiating steps to the goal and then making gradual efforts to achieve it, is our duty. Let us at least start moving forward to the goal,? he said adding that change in mentality is must for rural development. He said there are still many things in the country to feel proud. ?We have the best scientists in the world. Indian youth are shining all over the world in the field of computer. India won five wars against Pakistan. The nuclear tests in Pokhran stormed the whole world. After Independence we built 4000 dams. The Indian railway is among the best railways in the world. By and large there is no reason to worry about the future,? he added.

He called upon the activists to make the village temple as the center of developmental activities. He also spoke about female foeticide and said there would be a big imbalance between man and woman by the year 2020 if it is not curbed effectively today. He said the prime reason of growing incidents of foeticide is dowry, which must be eradicated completely.

Earlier, speaking at the inaugural ceremony Shri Premchand Goel, Akhil Bharatiya Sewa Pramukh of RSS, described the water conservation as need of the hour. He called upon the activists to apprise the countrymen of the value and importance of water conservation and also stop the misuse of drinking water. He said tree-plantation is the best way to control global warming. About the cow protection, he said till the cows are not protected, the Indians could not lead a happy life.

Akhil Bharatiya Sah Sewa Pramukh Shri Sitaram Kedilaya said we can save the humanity only by saving the villages and only then the concept of Ramrajya would be materialised. He said as the devils used to destroy the villages during the ancient period, the Naxalites and Maoists are destroying them. He said the people of the villages are migrating to cities due to the influence of media and the workers should think about how to stop it. We need to study this problem properly and then proper steps should be taken to solve it with the cooperation of the society. He emphasised the need to develop at least one model village in each district so that other people can imbibe the model. He said the government is spending the maximum money on the development of 20 per cent people of the country living in urban areas and is ignoring the 80 per cent people living in rural areas. This is the reason the graph of suicides is shooting up.

Akhil Bharatiya Gram Vikas Pramukh Shri Surendra Chauhan spoke about the marvellous work being rendered by swayamsevaks on the front of rural development. He pointed out that the swayamsevaks have presented a very good example of organic farming in Khushipura village near Mathura. He stressed the need to take benefit of the government schemes, as the money being provided by the government is ours. He stressed the need to encourage the use of organic manures. Shri Sunil Mansinghka, director of Govijnan Anusandhan Kendra, Devlapur (Nagpur) stressed the need to promote cow-based agriculture to save the cow. Shri Subhash Kulkarni of Arogya Bharati spoke about the environment protection. Dr Rakesh Dube, director of Prakriti Bharati said the Indian culture has always propagated balance with the nature and the blind exploitation of the nature would take the world nowhere.

Akhil Bharatiya Go Samvardhan Pramukh Shri Omprakash stressed the need to promote the feeling of gosewa in the society. He said panchgavya is good not only for the human health but also is very useful for agriculture. Shri Suryakant Jalan, director of Surabhi Sodh Sansthan also spoke on the occasion.
