Kisan was a votary of Lord Vishnu. He practiced penance for a long time. As a result thereof Lord Vishnu appeared before Kisan and He said ?Ask a boon from me!!

Kisan was highly pleased with the appearance of Lord Vishnu. Kisan said, ?Lord please allot me three boons. Also please allow me the freedom to utilise them at any time according to my sweet will.?

?Alright. Let it be so?, said Lord Vishnu. So saying Lord Vishnu disappeared from the scene.

Kisan went on thinking. After thinking a lot he came to a conclusion that, ?A large number of poor children are not getting milk due to utter poverty. Milk is the complete and ideal food for everybody, especially for children and old people. But the supply of milk is very very acute everywhere. So Kisan prayed Lord Vishnu and obtained that instead of water there should be milk everywhere on the earth.?

So the first boon was implemented. All the streams, fountains, rivers started flowing with best kind of milk.

Even inside the coconut, there appeared pure milk.

The people were highly pleased with this change. But soon they realised there was no water on the earth to quench their thirst.

The situation became critical. So Kisan again approached Lord Vishnu and said, ?Water is needed every moment. Men will die in the absence of water. They can very well do without milk. But life without water will be an ulter doom. So Lord, kindly release the second boon promised by you and let there be water everywhere and no milk at all.?

The Lord accepted Kisan'sdemand. Soon there was water everywhere. Even cows and buffalos yielded water instead of milk.

The people heaved a sigh of relief. But soon they realised that milk had disappeared from the earth. So not only babies of poor but also babies of rich families went on starving. There was no milk for preparing tea, coffee and so many other drinks. No curds, no butter, no sweet-meats.

The situation turned from bad to worse. The second boon had played havoc never seen before.

Kisan was shocked with this change. He felt himself guilty for landing the people in panic.

So Kisan rushed to Lord Vishnu. With tears in his eyes, Kisan said, ?My dear Lord I was a fool in demanding one change after the other without realising that everything on earth has got utility. Kindly allow the third boon and let there be the arrangement as before in this world viz. water everywhere and limited milk from cows and buffalos as before.?

The Lord smiled and said ?Let it be so?.

Soon the situation changed exactly to the pattern it had before implementation of the first boon.

Kisan was very happy. He thanked the Lord from the bottom of his heart.
