Baudh Mahasammelan in Sarnath Chinese intrusions on Indian territory unacceptable

The Baudh Mahasammelan held under the aegis of Dharma Sanskriti Sangam in Sarnath has demanded the Government of India to redefine its relations with China in new circumstances. The Sammelan also demanded liberation of Siachen, Kailash Mansarovar and the area of Arunchal Pradesh from the illegal occupation of China. The nine resolutions which were unanimously adopted at the Mahasammelan, also demanded both the state and the central governments to practically recognise Sarnath as tourist place and develop Kashi and Sarnath as international tourist spots. The resolutions also demanded to include Bhot language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, liberation of Tibet and effective steps to curb the conversion of Buddhists by Church in the Himalayas. A total of 412 delegates from Tibet, Japan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar and from various states of India participated in the two-day Sammelan, which concluded on February 17.

Speaking at the concluding ceremony, RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri K.S. Sudarshan said the world is today at the verge of third world war and a serious conflict is going on between the good and evil forces. He said the Western countries are facing split due to lack of spiritualism and only the Indian spiritualism can save them from war. He said diversity has been made by the God and its destruction would be destruction of the God. Dharma is the only thing that can bring unity in diversity. He said consumerism is one of the prominent reasons behind the failure of the families in the west. America is the best example of it and they are now taking lessons from the Indian family system.

Presiding over the concluding ceremony, Prof. Geshe Nawang Samten, director of Tibetan Educational Institution, said preserving our culture from the outer invasions should be our prime objective today. The mantra of peace that India has given to the world is the remedy to most of the problems the world is facing. Prof. Surendra Singh Kushwah, former vice chancellor of M.G. Kashi Vidyapeeth and Shri Thupaston Chhewang, MP from Leddakh also spoke on the occasion. Shri Ramraksha Tripathi discussed about the resolutions. Shri Bhadant Jnan Jagat, Dr Vijaylakshmi Deshmane, Dr Priyadarshi Jyotikar, RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Suresh Soni, Kshetra Pracharak Shri Ashok Beri, Kshetra Pracharak Pramukh of Dr Amar Singh and Mayor of Varanasi Shri Kaushlendra Singh were among the prominent persons present at the concluding ceremony.

Earlier, speaking at the inaugural ceremony Shri Suresh Soni said invasions, terror cultures and commercialisation are the greatest dangers to the world today. He said the prime reason behind growth of terror cultures is the declining influence of dharma-based cultures. He stressed the need of better coordination between the dharma-based cultures of the world. Presiding over the inaugural ceremony, Dr Rahul Bodhi from Mumbai said peace is not possible till the clash of civilisations continues in the world. He said coordination between Indian ways of worships is necessary for restoring peace in the world. Swami Avimuketshwaranand Saraswati, disciple of Swami Sawaroopanand also spoke on the occasion.

Shri Indresh Kumar, national executive member of RSS, said the liberation of Tibet, conversion of Buddhists in the Himalayas and social untouchability are three prominent dangers today and coordination between Indian ways of worships is necessary to arrest them. Shri Vijay Girkar, president of Samata Parishad, Mumbai and Shri Bhadant Aggdhamma from Arunachal Pradesh also spoke on the occasion. Shri K.S. Sudarshan, joint secretary general of VHP Shri Balkrishan Niak and Sahkshetra Pracharak Pramukh Shri Ramashish were also present on the occasion.

The messages from the Dalai Lama and Prof. Samdong Rimponche, Prime Minister of Tibetan Government in Exile, were also read out at the function. The second day of the Mahasammelan witnessed cultural programmes and play on the life of Mahatma Buddha.
