Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who was the star attraction at the national council meet after Gujarat election, told the delegates that the BJP should oppose the ?divisive move? of the Congress. Shri Modi charged the UPA with promoting religious conversions by its plans to give more allocations to minority dominated districts. Shri Modi described the achievements of the NDA government and attacked the Centre for showing a step-motherly attitude towards the NDA-ruled states on different issues including development plank. Shri Modi showered praise on other BJP-ruled states also for running on a progressive path. Eulogising Atal Behari Vajpayee, who has passed the baton to Shri Advani, he said ?a true leader is the one who gives you a right successor and the BJP has been given the greatest gift? (in the form of Shri Advani). While praising Shri Advani as a tall leader, he also raised the issue of dynastic politics saying that the leadership of several non-BJP parties is passed on from one generation to another.
After presenting the performance report of their states, the charge of discrimination by the Centre was also echoed by Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh.
