Colourful diet is not just appealing to eyes but symbolises wholesome and healthy meal. Here is a recipe for long and healthy life. All you need to do is consume colourful diet, take red, add a pinch of yellow and do not forget green. This experiment with diet will give you all that your body needs to be healthy and fit in every term. Such a diet means you are consuming all sorts of vitamins, minerals and plant chemicals that strengthen your immune system and fight diseases.

These healthy pigments are found in the skin of the vegetables and fruits that one eats. The darker the shade, the better the nutrition. Dr Shikha Sharma, a nutritionist, says that even a layman can identify certain colours and their benefits. This can help you pick what you need the most, depending on your state of health. However the best way is to just shop for a variety of coloured food items and not limit yourself to just one colour.

Green vegetables like cucumber and spinach have chlorophyll that purifies blood. Deep coloured foods like pumpkin, mangoes and carrots are the best source of vitamins, which protect eyes and enrich immune system.
