Kochi International Book Festival to begin on December 1

Eleventh International Book Festival, Kochi, will begin from December 1, 2007 at Ernakulathappan Grounds and will conclude on December 10. According to Shri E.N. Nandakumar, general convenor of the book festival, over 250 exhibitors are expected to participate in the book fair, which would attract thousands of book lovers from all over the state of Kerala. Beginning in the year 1997, this book festival has evolved into the largest and finest book festival in the southern part of India. Last year'sfestival had more than 200 exhibitors and a hundred thousand visitors. Indeed, the figures have been increasing every year and this year too is not an exception, as more exhibitors, more great deals and buys and more exciting special events are expected to fill the halls of Kochi'spremier exhibition venue. The book festival is organised by the Antharashtra Pusthakotsava Samthi, Kochi, a registered charitable society established to promote reading, encourage writing and to heighten an awareness of literacy and literary arts in the state of Kerala.  (FOC)
