Determined in its commitment to convert Kerala into the graveyard of democratic, ideological politics, and continuing its tirade against the RSS, CPM goons and NDF Islamic militants brutally butchered RSS taluk Karyavah G. Chandran Pillai (42) at Kalluvettan Kuzhi at Vettiyar within Kuruthikad police station at Charumoodu taluk. Alappuzha district, on the midnight of April 20.

Vettiyar, Kuruthi-kad in Charumoodu had been the stronghold of the CPM for several decades. The area has a high population of Muslims and most of the CPM cadres are members of the ISI backed NDF. Two years back, the RSS started work there and several Hindus, including CPM cadres started coming to RSS. This created clashes between CPM and RSS which was basically a Hindu-Muslim confrontation. As strength of the RSS increased, attacks and counter-attacks became more frequent.

On the morning of April 20, RSS mandal sharirik pramukh Anish Kumar (18) was brutally attacked by a CPM-NDF gang when he was waiting at the Vettiyar bus-stop. On hearing the news, RSS men rushed to the area and the attackers retreated. The RSS men lodged complaint with the police, and as in several past cases, no action was taken. Later, in the evening CPM-NDF goons started attacking houses of RSS-BJP workers and sympathisers. Heavy stone-pelting was resorted to. They also entered Gopinatha Pillai'shouse, destroyed house-hold articles and attacked, his wife Valsala.

Despite information, the Police didn'tcome. The nexus between police and the goons was already there. They gave adequate opportunity for CPM-NDF to attack RSS cadres and houses. Later, they came and arrested Sangh swayamsevaks on false charges.

Hearing the news of the attacks and arrest of swayamsevaks, Taluk Karyavah Chandran, who doesn'tbelong to that area rushed to Vettiyar along with some swayamsevaks. As he was trying to talk to the Police, they resorted to lathi-charge. As it was past 11 p.m., he got lost of the way. Kuruthikkad Sub-Inspector Binu Kumar, alleged to be a stooge of the CPM, chased him to a CPM strong-hold area. There, in a granite quarry, at Kalluvettan Kuzhi, Chandran was brutally attacked with iron rods, wooden poles and huge blocks of stone, by both the SI and CPM-NDF barbarians. His penis and testicles were found crushed to pulp. There were stab wounds all over the body. On April 21 morning, he was found abandoned in a sand pit in the quarry. For a whole night this brave warrior of Bharat Mata, was subject to the most primitive attacks.

RSS, BJP cadres rushed to the area and prevented the Police from taking the body for post-mortem. The Collector and S.P. E.P. Jayaraj rushed to the area. RSS men gheraoed them. They demanded suspension of SI Binu Kumar and action against Circle Inspector Abdul Nazeem who helped the murderers. They said iron rods, SI'sPolice cap, his mobile phone and liquor bottles were found from near the body of Chandran. This gives credence to the suspected Police – CPM – NDF gang up. Giving in, to RSS-BJP pressure the SI was suspended and investigation handed over to the D.Y.S.P. Alappuzha. Cases were also registered against 18 CPM workers.

The body of Chandran, after post-mortem was taken in huge procession to his house, in Vallikunnam and cremated. Top leaders of RSS, BJP and other associated organisations attended the ceremonies. A hartal was observed in Alappuzha district on April 21.

Citing displeasure with the course of investigations, RSS-BJP boycotted the all-party peace meet called by the collector and local CPM, M.P., C.S. Sujatha.

The RSS and BJP called a condolence meeting in Charoomoodu on April 27 and decided to intensify agitations for thorough probe and arrest of real culprits. They also decided to start a fund collection drive to assist Chandran'spoor family.

Meanwhile, owing to mass RSS protests police arrested four CPM workers and charged them for murder. The weapons used were also recovered from them.

Adding a sad twist to the prevailing gloom, Devakiamma (86) mother of Chandran died on April 24. She had been in a state of shock ever since Chandran'sdisappearance on April 20 and collapsed on seeing his mutilated body the next day.

Like Pannyannur Chandran, K.J Jayakrishnan, Aswini Kumar, Sunil Kumar and scores of Sangh martyrs, the CPM-NDF tie-up has been targeting selective RSS adhikaris, who despite road-blocks have been taking the ?dhwaj? of Hindutva forward. But undaunted by these barbaric murders, the Hindu youth are coming forward to take Bharat Mata to the highest pinnacles of glory.
