One day two rams began to fight with each other. What began as a minor tussle soon acquired serious proportions and the fight became fierce, both charging at each other and entangling their horns in the process.

While the two were engaged in fighting each other, a hungry wolf happened to pass by. On seeing the two clash with each other, the wolf decided to watch the tussle in the hope of preying on the one that would lose in the battle.

The fight however continued unrelentingly, showing no signs of abetting. Both the rams became wounded with scratches and wounds covering their bodies. Blood by now had begun to ooze out of their wounds. The smell of fresh blood made the wolf'smouth water and he began to move slowly towards the two warriors, who meanwhile continued with their battle.

With the increase in the flow of blood from the wounds of the injured rams, the wolf could no longer control himself and he went and stood between the two rams that stood facing each other with their horns interlocked. The wolf took out his tongue to drink the blood of the two rams.

A sage who was passing by stopped at this strange sight. He thought to himself, ?How silly is this wolf! It does not realise the danger it faces in case it get caught in between the horns of the two rams. Just a few drops of blood are making him so greedy.?

Soon the two rams unlocked their horns, moved back a bit to renew their energy and charged again. The two rams moved so fast at each other that the wolf had no time to save himself and got crushed between the onslaughts of the two rams at each other. In no time the wolf was crushed to death and his mutilated body lay on the ground. The two rams continued with their fight till both lay exhausted.

The story goes to prove that never let your greed overtake your safety.
