Shri Krishna Kumar Ashthana, editor of noted children magazine, Devputra, has been honoured with Bal Sahityakar Samman instituted in the memory of former editor of Nandan, the late Jaiprakash Bharati. The Balkanji Bari International, a noted organisation dedicated to the cause of children and women, has instituted the award in the birth centenary year of its founder Dada Shevak Bhojraj. Noted literary person Shri Rashtrabandhu was also honoured on the occasion.
Presenting the award in New Delhi, Justice A.M. Ahmedi, former Chief Justice of Supreme Court, said children are the priceless legacy of the nation and sincere efforts should be made for their development. He said biggest and foremost task before us should be to impart moral education.
Speaking as special guest, Shri Bishma Narayan Singh, Governor of Assam, stressed the need to follow the ideals of Gandhiji. He said the philosophy of Gandhiji is eternal. He said the views of Gandhiji are very significant at the time when the country is in the grip of terrorism.
Shri G.V.G. Krishnamurthy, former Election Commissioner of India, Chaudhary Prem Singh, Speaker of Delhi Assembly and Jatthedar Shri Rachhapal Singh stressed the need to formulate a concrete action plan for multi-dimensional development of children. The function was presided over by Shri Navin Kumar Jaggi, international president of Balkan Ji Bari. Several teachers of Delhi and meritorious students were also honoured on the occasion for their outstanding performance. (FOC)
