BJP Mahila Morcha has launched a countrywide signature campaign against the growing prices of essential commodities in the country. Under the campaign, the state units after collecting signatures from general public will submit them to the respective state Governors and would also apprise them of the failures of the government in checking the prices of essential commodities. The campaign is going on in various states.
Kicking off the campaign in Himachal Pradesh, Smt. Shahin Akhtar, state in-charge of BJP Mahila Morcha and Member of Morcha'snational executive, said the Congress government of Himachal Pradesh has failed at all fronts and the life of a common man has become quite miserable in the state. She further said not only the crime against women has increased but corruption too has escalated in the state since the formation of the Congress government. Law and order situation has collapsed and even the Congress leaders are levelling serious corruption charges against their government, she said. Smt. Rakesh Sharma, Morcha'snational vice president, Smt. Bimla Kashyap, state Mahila Morcha president and Smt. Mohini Garg, Morcha?a national executive member, were also present at the convention.
Later, talking to mediapersons in Shimla, Smt. Akthar said it has become a nightmare for a common man to have two square meals. She said the prices of all essential commodities have risen to more than 70 per cent and the government has failed to check it. ?The growing prices are a clear indication that the UPA government has failed on all fronts and has no concern for aam adami, whose friends it claims itself to be,? she said.
She challenged the UPA chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi to present the women reservation bill in Parliament. She alleged that the women reservation bill is not being brought in Parliament due to the pressure from UPA partners. She made it clear that the BJP would support the bill if it comes in the House.
Smt. Akhtar also said the Mahila Morcha would form Kamal Vahini to strengthen the organisation in states. She said every Vahini would have at least five members who would work for strengthening the organisation. She said the party has decided to enroll at least one lakh women in BJP'sfold in Himachal Pradesh alone.
