Jahnavi, one of the popular Hindi monthlies for women, in association with the TT Ltd has organised the second story writing competition to explore the hidden talent of story writers. The competition also marks the 125th birth anniversary of noted Hindi writer Munshi Premchand. The first winner will be felicitated with a cash prize of Rs 51,000. Twelve other prizes will also be given away to encourage the story writers. This is for the first time that any winning story in Hindi will get such a handsome amount as prize money.

The Jahnavi had organised a similar competition in 1996 in which the cash prizes of Rs 60,000 were distributed among the winners. All the winners were felicitated at a colourful function held at LTT stadium in New Delhi. The function was presided over by noted Hindi writer Shri Vishnu Prabhakar and former Prime Minister Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee was also present on the occasion.

Talking about the rules and regulations of the competition, Shri Bharat Bhushan Chaddha, editor of Jahnavi, said the story should be self-written, unpublished, exclusive and in Hindi. It should be sent in three typed or neatly written copies. The story should not contain the name of the writer anywhere on the paper. A separate sheet with the name, age, profession and the declaration of exclusiveness by the author should be attached. The last date of submitting the story is July 31, 2006. The address for sending the entries is: Jahnavi, WZ-41, Dasghara, near Todapur, New Delhi-110 012; email: jahnavi_m_p@yahoo.co.in
