Several Muslim organisations in Orissa are up against Smt Pramila Mallick,Minister for Woman and Child Development in the state government.

The fault, the Minister reportedly suggested family planning operation of Muslim women during a hearing by National Commission for linguistic and religious minorities here. The commission is headed by former Chief Justice of Supreme Court Shri Ranganath Mishra.

Reacting to demand for reservations in job and educational institutions by Muslim leaders, the Minister had also wanted Muslim women to be rational in adopting family planning norms.

?We can only be governed by laws of Shariat?, several Muslim organisations have come forward rejecting family planning operation, which is not approved by the Islamic laws.

Several rational organisations have found reason in Muslims adopting family planning norms as many Islamic countries have even adopted that.

Tourism incentive
After industrialisation, one thing that could prove to be employment and income generating avenue is rapid development in tourism sector. Orissa government has prioritised this sector for more economic development in the state.

Finding innovative ways to bring tourists to its own part, the state government is likely to sign a pact with neighboring Chhatisgarh to jointly work to draw attention of national and international tourists to both the states nestled by nature.

Recently Minister of Tourism, Orissa, Surya Narayan Patro and his Chhatisgarh counterpart Brij Mohan Agrawal expressed strong desire to work together to promote tourist potential of both the State.

?Chhatisgarh and Orissa have similar culture and both the states can jointly work to owe tourists in a combined way?, Chhatisgarh Tourism Minister Shri Agrawal reasoned out.

With a proper arrangement in place, the same tourists would certainly like to pass time in both the states? natural beauty. Stressing on the joint venture, the Chhatisgarh Tourism Minister said that economically backward both Chhatisgarh and Orissa could go for joint campaign. Flow of tourists would go a long way in economic progress, he added.

Towing a similar line Orissa Tourism Minister said both the states should go for better infrastructure to meet high value tourists.

Giving details of Orissa government'splan, the Minister said that apart from marketing the Orissa'stourism sector in national and international platforms, the state government has put maximum stress on infrastructure development.
