Dattopant Thengadi Memorial Lecture in Delhi

Senior organising secretary of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), Shri Omprakash Aggi delivered the first Dattopant Thengadi Memorial Lecture in New Delhi on October 16, the first death anniversary of the BMS founder. Shri Aggi held politics responsible for declining strength of trade unions in the country. He said several trade unions declare strikes in the name of labourers but they practically protect the interests of their parent political organisation or their supporting government. Shri Aggi said workers are being sacrificed in the name of liberalisation. ?If one compares the output of any department with its 10-years-old record, one will find that the profit of the department has increased manifold, but the number of workers has declined. The workers are being retired before completion of their service period under various schemes like golden hand shake, etc. Permanent staff is being retrenched. Workers are being terrorised through such tactics. What is more surprising is that several trade unions are silent on these issues,? he said. Shri Aggi further said Dr Manmohan Singh was appointed Finance Minister in 1991 on pressure from the World Bank and it is the bad luck of the country that the person who is receiving pension from the World Bank has now become the Prime Minister of the country. Shri Ramesh Prakash, Uttar Kshetra Karyavah of RSS, and Shri Ramdas Pandey, Kshetriya organising secretary of BMS, also spoke on the occasion.

Uttaranchal special issue of Rashtradev

Uttaranchal issue of Rashtradev was released in Dehradun recently. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Adhish Kumar, Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh of RSS, highlighted the glorious history of the State. He said Vedic literature; Jatak granths, Jain and Buddhist literature and other works of great writers consist of the description of Uttaranchal, which has been regarded as the abode of Gods. ?Kalidas starts his Kumarsambhav with singing in praise of the Himalayas. Uttaranchal was the sacred land and the centre for meditation of the gods, rishis and saints. Maharishi Vedvyas composed the great epic Mahabharata amidst the hills of Uttaranchal. God Badrinath an incarnation of Lord Vishnu was born here. It is believed that every pebble of Uttaranchal is Shankar. In our great classics, Uttaranchal has been described as paradise. The Ganga, Yamuna and disappearing Saraswati and other important rivers orginate from the Himalayas,? he said. Shri Adhish Kumar further said the original and the basic culture of Uttaranchal is being destroyed systematically. ?The mentality of jehad, which destroyed the statue of Mahatma Buddha in Afghanistan and worldwide terrorism are trying to enter Uttaranchal to snatch its peace and destroy its culture. Maoist activities have increased in Uttaranchal,? he added. A huge gathering of eminent persons including Prant Pracharak Shiv Prakash, Vibhag Pracharak Sudhir Kumar, former chief minister, Nityanand Swami, President of Uttaranchal VSK, Daya Chand Jain, Kshetra Pracharak Ram Lal, Prant Karyavaha Shashi Kant Dixit eminent writer Champat Rai Jain, were present on the occasion. Arogya Bharati to work among slum-dwellers

East Andhra Pradesh unit of Arogya Bharati organised a function in Vijayawada to discuss ways and means of improving health awareness among slums dwellers. About 150 doctors participated in the meet. Dr Ashok Kukade from Latur, Dr Narendra Kulkarani from Aurangabad and Dr Vijay Kulkarni from Nashik, who is also Kshetra Pramukh of Arogya Bharati, were among the prominent personalities attending the function. Dr Ashok Kukade and Dr Narendra Kulkanri stressed the need to build a strong organisation and a team of dedicated workers. Shri Vijay Kulkarni spoke about the action plan of Arogya Bharati and Arogya Mitra. Shri Bhagaiahji, Sah Kshetra Pracharak concluded the function with his inspiring speech. Dr G. Eshwar, Principal, Siddartha Medical College, delivered the keynote address at the inaugural session. The function was presided over by Dr K. Pattabhi Ramaiah, President, Arogya Bharati, East Andhra Pradesh. Kshetra Sanghachalak, Justice (Retd.) S. Parvatrao was also present on the occasion.

Tribute to Lakshmanrao Taranekar

Veteran Sangh Pracharak, Lakshmanrao Taranekar passed away in Gwalior recently. In his tribute RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri K.S. Sudarshan described him as a maun tapasvi. Taranekarji became a Sangh Pracharak in 1951. He worked as Pracharak in Vidisha for some time and later he shifted to Gwalior, which remained his karmabhoomi till he breathed his last. Taranekarji brought a large number of people into the Sangh fold and also moulded some of them to dedicate for the nation. ?I came close to Taranekarji in 1964 when I became the Prant Pracharak of Madhya Bharat Prant. I received his cooperation and assistance as a trusted colleague. It was during the time when he was Zilla Pracharak in Gwalior, that the Sangh Shiksha Varga was held at the premises of Tapovan Rajmahal. It was at that Sangh Shiksha Varga that he introduced Shri Guruji to Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia. Later, Hamari Awaj, a newspaper run under his guidance, was merged into Swadesh, which later became the Gwalior edition of Swadesh. In all these incidents Taranekar played a key role remaining behind the scene. I pay my humble tributes at the demise of such a karmayogi,? Shri Sudarshan said in his tribute.
