Scholars for Oxford apology

FOC

Scholars, who met at Tirupati from July 16 to 17 under the banner of Itihas Sankalan Yojana, have demanded an apology from the Oxford University authorities for the gross, insulting and humiliating representation of Hindus sitting at the feet of Sir Williams Jones in a panel set up in the chapel of University college, Oxford. In a resolution adopted at the meet, the scholars demanded removal of the offending panel. In another resolution, the scholars termed the attempt of Muslim Waqf Board declaring Taj Mahal the property of the Board, against the law of the land. ?On the contrary, archaeologists and scholars should be encouraged to investigate the nature of the Taj Mahal complex, in the context of recent new discoveries nearby the structure and the use of 22 rooms below the mausoleum,? the resolution said. The scholars also demanded immediate stoppage of the political move of various State Governments including Andhra Pradesh government to take over and sell the endowment properties and lands of temples. ?The temple lands belong to Hindu and Government'sinterference in the management of the lands should be stopped. They must be reverted to traditional systems of management by Hindu trusts,? the resolution added.
