Eighty Christian priests get a new lease of life because of RSS
?Sangh is the true friend of humanity?
By Debasis Tripathy in Sambalpur

?Sangh is not communal, nor does it have any hatred towards any faith. It renders yeoman'sservice remaining above all the distinctions… Its cadets (Swayamsevaks) are true patriots… We got a new lease of life. And our thinking about the Sangh has changed drastically. RSS is our friend, and the friend of humanity. We now realise this.?

This is not the statement of any karyakarta of Sangh nor of anyone belonging to Sangh Parivar. Rather it is a spontaneous reaction of many Christian priests like Mangal Digal of Jaman Kiri Block of Sambalpur district of Orissa, who got a new lease of life after the Swayamsevaks rescued them on April 6, 2005.

On that fateful day, a mini truck carrying about 90 passengers (all of them Christian priests) left for Godpil village from Jamankeri village, 50 kms from the district headquarters of Sambalpur. All the pastors were going to attend a marriage. While passing along a dense forest, the truck faced an accident and fell 20 ft down into a hole, near Padiabahal, which falls under the jurisdiction of Sambalpur Police Station.

Density of forest, dark night and the loneliness of the place turned their efforts futile to get a helping hand. As it is said, ?God is the protector of those who are helpless?, proving this age-old saying true, 50 volunteers of RSS rushed to the spot immediately.

After arriving on the spot, under the leadership of Shri Rajkishore Podhar, they started the work of relief and rescue without any hesitation. Ten persons died on the spot. Other 80 injured persons were taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance of Vanvasi Kalyan Asharm. Though there is no government hospital in the locality, the patients were admitted to the Sanjivani Swasthya Prakalpa, a charitable health centre run by Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, inaugurated by Sarsanghachalak Shri K.S. Sudarshan on the eve of the auspicious day of Varsha Pratipada, last year. Out of 80 injured, seven pastors had been treated in the health centre for six days, freely

by the Swayamsevaks. ?The Swayamsevaks brought the wounded persons here. We became astonished seeing them in the late night. The injured were in such a bad condition that some of them had lost their senses. At that time, there was inadequate staff at the hospital, but the boys (Swayamsevaks) helped us a lot. We washed their wounds and served them medicines. The boys purchased food for the injured and they did not waste time in donating their blood?, said Dr Purushottam Agarwal of the health centre while narrating his amazing experience before this correspondent.

The persons who were provided with health care in this hospital are: Luther Munda S/o John Munda, 2. Human Samal S/o Jibanmasta Samal, 3. Neul Lugan

S/o Salan Lugan, 4. Firoda Tapano D/o Cureon Tapano and 5. Habli Bilum S/o Silmano Bilum. All belong to Katangapani village.

?We were being taught that Hindus are devils. They want to kill us. Sangh-wallahs are the leaders of Hindus who are very wicked, always believe in violence. But now we realise that they are also our brothers. We are grateful to them for what they have done to us. They have given us a new lease of life,? said Bijaya Namal, one of the victims.

Not only Mangal Digal and Bijaya Namal expressed their gratitude to the Swayamsevaks, but other victims including Luther, Harman, Neul, Firoda, Habil and others expressed their gratefulness to the Swayamsevaks. While the so-called secular media is busy in defaming the dedicated Swayamsevaks of RSS, the comment of one Christian bishop is a slap in their face. ?These boys of RSS gave us a new lease of life. We are grateful to them. May God bless them,? said Bishop Wilson Samal.

?We have not done anything much. What we have done is from humanity point of view. All are human beings. Nobody is small and big. All are children of God,? said Shri Bipin Bihari Nanda, the prant karyavah of RSS.
