Releasing the Hindu Prahari, a journal by Hindu Jagran Manch, in Dehradun recently, Shri Shiv Prakash, Uttaranchal Prant Pracharak, cautioned the people of the state against the dangers posed by Maoist activities in Nepal and border areas of Uttaranchal. ?Maoists have set their eyes on Uttaranchal. Their activities have penetrated the hill state to a great extent. There is a need to weed out every iota of Maoist element from the region,? he said stressing the need to identify its sympathisers also, as it would greatly help in making Uttaranchal free from Maoists. Shri Shiv Prakash also expressed concern over the increase in Muslim population in the state and said that Haridwar, the most revered pilgrim place of Hindus, had a 33 per cent Muslim population. ?It is a design and a well-thought strategy,? he added. He said that Muslim population in Udham Singh Nagar had reached 21 per cent and in total it is 12 per cent in the state, which posed a danger in future. ?Christians are also engaged in increasing their population. In Uttaranchal, activities of conversion through allurement are increasing by leaps and bounds. The total population of Uttaranchal is 84,89,349 and out of it 10,12,141 are Muslims and 27,116 are Christians,? he pointed out. Shri Kuldeep Kumar, editor Hindu Prahari, revealed the objectives of the journal. Shri Jai Subhash Verma presided over the function. Shri S.K.Dikshit, Saha Prant Karyavah, Laxmi Prasad Jaiswal, Prant Prachar Pramukh, Shri Raju Bhandari and Shri Prem Badakoti were also present on the occasion.
