Shri Mohan Bhagwat, RSS Sarkaryavah, inaugurated a physiotherapy centre run by Utkal Bipanna Sahayata Samiti (UBSS) in Bhubaneswar recently. Shri Bhagwat praised the UBSS'sinitiative in serving the suffering humanity. Active in Orissa since post-super cyclone phase, the UBSS'scontribution has earned appreciation in the state. Known for its pioneering role in rescue-relief-rehabilitation work, the Sangh-inspired organisation'srole in health care, primary education, training for self-employment and accommodation of orphan children is praiseworthy. The UBSS'sheadquarter in Bhubaneswar is fast emerging as a centre of alternative health care. Homeopathy, acupressure, ayurveda and regular yogic classes are part of UBSS routine and the number of visitors is going up day by day. Shushruta Swasthya Sewa project in the form of mobile medical units is serving people in remote areas in Malkanagir, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Phulbani districts. For inhabitants of 110 villages, spread over all these districts, these mobile medical units equipped with doctors and medicines have become the lifeline. In three major cities housing medical colleges like SCB Medical College and hospital at Cuttack, MKCG Medical College and hospital at Sambalpur and VSS Medical College and hospital at Berhampur, the UBSS runs free ambulances and patient-aid centres to help patients in remote areas.
