Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) panel has proved its majority in the Goa University Students? Council (GUSC) elections for the fourth consecutive tenure. Shri Atmaram Barve of V.M. Salagaecar College of Law was elected unopposed as chairman along with Gaurang Prabhu Malkarnekar of Government College as general secretary and Natasha Desai of Goa College of Fine Arts as the lady member for the year 2004-2005. Other members of the students? council include Joshua Silveira (Dempo College), Siddharth Deshpande (Architecture College), Thaurappa Lamani (MES College, Vasco), Ramesh Pal (Zantye College, Bicholim) and Ashok Velip (Goa University). Out of the 35 UFR'slisted by the university, the ABVP has an upper hand with 29 UFR?s. ABVP national president, Prof. Kailash Sharma, along with national vice-president, Prof. Datta B. Naik, and national general secretary, K. Raghunadan, have congratulated the council for its clean sweep and also asked it to work towards qualitative development of the student fraternity.
