Proving its perverted mentality and communal stand, the Muslim League of Kerala has once again hurt the sentiments of over 100 crore Indians. It has this time targeted the national anthem. Surprisingly, its alliance leader, the Congress, is mum on the issue.
According to reports received from the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram the Congress-Muslim League coalition government of Kerala has deleted the word ?Gujarat? from the national anthem published in the text-books of Class IX. As per their ?amendment?, the students of Kerala now sing the anthem thus: ?Punjab, Sindh,–, Maratha, Dravida, Utkala, Banga?.? The Education Ministry in Kerala is headed by a Muslim League leader, E.P. Mohammed Basheer.
The glaring omission was found in Kerala Reader Mathematics for Standard IX, published by Kerala government'sEducation Department-2004 and prepared by the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT), Thiruvananthapuram. The error had first appeared last year in the English text-book of Class V. When it was pointed out to the state education minister, he, while terming it a printing error, admitted the mistake and publicly assured to rectify the mistake the following year. But the mistake has been repeated this year also. It proves that it is not a printing mistake but well-organised tampering with the national anthem.
The anti-national act on the part of the Kerala government has shocked the countrymen. ?The Kerala government seems to have amended the national anthem. It is atrocious, highly objectionable, anti-national and an insult to the national anthem. It is the model of textbooks that can be expected from Human Resource Minister, Arjun Singh and company. We see this as an attempt to deliberately vilify Gujarat, which pseudo-secular parties have been conducting on a sustained basis. It has now reached such perverse levels that they have distorted even the national anthem. The BJP believes that such things are happening because, under the current leadership of the Congress Party, a message has gone down to the entire government system that nothing about the nation was sacrosanct. First it was the Uma Bharti issue on hoisting of the national flag, then the insult to Veer Savarkar and now the insult to Gujarat,? said BJP president, M. Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi. He demanded an apology from the Kerala government and the Congress leadership on the issue.
Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi has written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, urging him to take appropriate steps in this regard quickly. Terming it as an insult to Gujarat and its people, he described Gujarat'somission as ?extremely shocking and a serious issue.? BJP Kerala Yuva Morcha president, K. Surendran has also written to Union Home Minister, Shivraj Patil, demanding stern action against the culprits. (See page 8 also)
