Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has demanded an apology from PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti for her statement to Aaj Tak TV channel on July 9, saying , ?Amarnath yatra is troublesome for ?our people?, since children and the sick face difficulty in going to schools and hospitals due to yatra. ?Your? yatra is a danger to the security of ?our people?.?

Dr Pravin Togadia, VHP general secretary, condemned the PDP chief'sstatement and said, ?She humiliated and threatened Hindus by making such religious discrimination by saying ?your? yatra is troublesome for ?our? people.? Dr Togadia said, ?She must apologise to the Hindus or be ready for legal action. The yatras to Amarnath, Badrinath, Ujjain are religious and traditional practices of the Hindus, which have been going on for centuries even before the Islam came into existence 1,400 years back.?

He said that if Mufti is worried about the inconveniences caused by the Amarnath yatris, she should also consider the inconveniences caused by certain practices of Islam, such as, conducting five times namaz every day on busy roads, blocking traffic, having tabuts on streets, disturbing peace and traffic and five times ajan everyday creating noise.
