The school building of Bharatiya Vidya Niketan, a school run by Bharatiya Shiksha Samiti, Jammu & Kashmir, which is affiliated to Vidya Bharati, was inaugurated by Brigadier N.B. Patel of the 14 Corps on June 19 at Choglamsar in Leh. The school is located close to Jevatsal, the worship place of the Dalai Lama. Chief Education Officer of Leh, Shri Dorji, presided over the function. More than 1,000 people including parents of the wards and other distinguished guests participated in the function. The president of Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), Tundup Sonam, was among the dignitaries on the dais. Stakna Rinpochae sent his blessings on the occasion. The school was begun in 1999 in a rented accommodation with six students. Now the number of students has grown to 102. Ashok Kumar, organising secretary of Bharatiya Shiksha Samiti, highlighted the mission of Vidya Bharati.
