Working President of Vishwa Hindu Pari-shad (VHP), Ashok Singhal has ruled out the possibility of any dialogue with the Congress-led UPA coalition government on the issue of Ram temple. Describing the Congress as the main hurdle in the reconstruction of Shri Ram temple he said that the Congress had never been in favour of reconstruction of the temple but the VHP was ready for any sacrifice for reconstruction of the temple. He was talking to mediapersons in Rohtak (Haryana) recently. Shri Singhal termed any dialogue with the UPA government as ´wastage of time´. He warned that the saints would not wait for the court verdict as the matter had been pending before the court for a long time. ?In fact, the dispute, if any, should have been sorted out within one year of filing the case,? he said.
Later, talking to newsmen in New Delhi, Shri Singhal emphasised that no dialogue could be fruitful without involving the saints associated with the Ramjanmabhoomi movement for decades. He urged the Acharya Sabha constituted in December 2003 to enter into a dialogue with the leaders of Muslim community to clear its stand on the prime aspects of the dialogue taking into confidence all the saints associated with the Ramjanma-bhoomi movement.
He also urged the political parties to accept the facts on the temple and pass a law in favour of Shri Ramjanmabhoomi in Parliament. ?The Allahabad High Court got the place excavated and the excavators have already submitted their report, which makes it clear that a pre-existing Hindu temple at the spot was demolished for superimposing a mosque-like structure. These findings prove that the Sunni Waqf Board´s claim that the mosque was built on virgin land is devoid of any substance. Truth demands that all political parties should accept the reality and pass a law in favour of Shri Ramjanmabhoomi in Parlia-ment,? he said.
On the former Prime Minister, Narasimha Rao´s recent comment that the ´mosque´ should be put up at the same place where it existed, Shri Singhal said that Shri Rao had made the same reaction on the day the disputed structure was demolished in 1992. The so-called secular parties, especially the communist parties, are also in favour of housing the mosque at the birthplace of Shri Ram, he said.
