The 12-day Sri Ram mahayajna of Vishwa Hindu Parishad began in Ayodhya on March 21 in the presence of Ashok Singhal, working president of VHP, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, president of Ramjanmabhoomi Trust and Annubhai Sompura, incharge of Sri Ramjanmabhoomi Trust workshop. Thousands of Rambhakts participate in the yajna everyday. The security at the venue has been tightened keeping in view the large quantity of explosives recently recovered from Nawabganj Bazaar, the adjoining city of Ayodhya and Faizabad. Speaking to mediapersons in Ayodhya, Shri Singhal said that he wanted a person like Atal Behari Vajpayee as the next Prime Minister of the country because he has the capability to lead the nation. He clarified that his criticism of certain policies of Shri Vajpayee in recent past was an internal matter of the Parivar. He also expounded on the achievements of the Vajpayee government in the past six years. Shri Singhal said if the 14th Lok Sabha were to witness the same situation as the 13th Lok Sabha had in which the pro-Ram temple MPs were less in number, the VHP would not wait for any legislation and would accelerate its agitation for Ram temple. He hoped that the Ram temple issue would be resolved outside the court. He added that the number of parties that were in favour of reconstruction of Ram temple was growing and now the parties, other than the BJP, were also ready to support the reconstruction of the Ram temple.
