The student agitation over demands related to the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) continued in Ranchi on Wednesday (August 12), entering its 19th day.
On the occasion of International Youth Day, students associated with the JPSC-JSSC Reform Forum took out a foot march in the city in support of student unity and their demands.
The march began at around 8:30 pm from Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium and proceeded towards Albert Ekka Chowk.
Hundreds of students participated in the procession, raising slogans and urging the government to address their demands related to the recruitment examination system.
Students carry tricolour, sing National Anthem
The march saw students carrying the Tricolour as they moved through the city.
At the protest, students also sang the National Anthem and raised slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”
The students also reiterated their opposition to the lathi charge during the Assembly gherao, which has become one of the issues highlighted by the protesting aspirants.
The protesters maintained that the agitation would continue until their demands are addressed by the government.

Students welcomed with Aarti
One of the notable moments of Wednesday’s march came when the students reached Albert Ekka Chowk.
According to reports, social worker Devendra Singh welcomed the students by performing an aarti.
He also appreciated the students for conducting their agitation peacefully.
The welcome came as the students continued their protest over examination-related demands and sought action from the government.
Several injured students return home
The protest site at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium continues to remain a centre of the agitation.
According to the reports, several students who were injured during the Assembly gherao have returned home for treatment.
However, students who continue to remain at the protest site have maintained their morale and continued the agitation.
The protesters have reiterated that they will remain at the site until their demands are fulfilled.
Student leader seeks permission to return from hospital
Devendranath Mahato is currently receiving treatment at Sadar Hospital.
Mahato has reportedly written to the officer in charge of Sadar Hospital seeking permission to return to Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, where the students are continuing their agitation.
He said that staying away from the students was more painful for him than the physical suffering caused by his injuries.
His request comes as students continue to remain at the protest venue.
Tiranga yatra planned for August 15
The protesting students are also preparing for a Tiranga Yatra on August 15.
According to the reports, a large Tiranga Yatra will begin from Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium.
Students will gather at the hunger-strike site before beginning the procession.
The planned route will take the participants from Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium through Kachahari to Albert Ekka Chowk, following which they will return to the stadium.
The proposed march is expected to be part of the students’ ongoing agitation.
ABVP demands CBI probe into JPSC-JSSC irregularities
Meanwhile, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has demanded an impartial CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations.
The organisation has also warned of a larger agitation involving thousands of students if the demands are not addressed.
ABVP national general secretary Dr Yajendra Singh Solanki said serious questions had been raised over the integrity of the JSSC-CGL examination and demanded that the examination be cancelled immediately.
He also called for action against those responsible and said institutional reforms were required in the examination system.
ABVP questions changes in SIT
Solanki also raised questions over repeated changes in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to look into the examination-related allegations.
According to the ABVP, repeated changes in the investigation team have raised questions about its credibility.
The organisation has therefore argued that a CBI probe should be conducted to ensure an independent investigation into the allegations.
The JPSC-JSSC Reform Forum’s protest continues as students demand action on examination-related issues, accountability for alleged irregularities and reforms in the recruitment process.
