Organiser, one of India’s longest-running nationalist publications, will celebrate 80 years of its journalistic journey (1947–2026) with a commemorative programme at The Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, on July 3, 2026.

The event will bring together senior journalists, policymakers, intellectuals and functionaries of RSS to reflect on the publication’s contribution to national discourse over the past eight decades.

Founded in 1947 in the aftermath of Independence and Partition, Organiser has consistently positioned itself as the “Voice of the Nation”, advocating a nationalist perspective on politics, society, culture and civilisational issues.

Over the decades, it has documented major developments in independent India while championing the causes of cultural nationalism, national unity, civilisational heritage and public policy from a Bharatiya viewpoint.

The inaugural session, will focus on “Freedom of Speech: The Debate Since Independence.” The discussion will feature Kanchan Gupta, Senior Advisor, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India; Prafulla Ketkar, Editor of Organiser; and Prof. K.G. Suresh, Senior Journalist and Director, India Habitat Centre.

The second session, titled “Editor’s Take – ‘My Days With Organiser'”, will feature former Editors Seshadri Chari and R. Balashankar, who will share their experiences of shaping the publication through different phases of India’s political and intellectual landscape.

The valedictory session will commence at 6.00 pm. Vice President of India C.P. Radhakrishnan will attend as the Chief Guest, while RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale will deliver the keynote address. Dr Anil Aggarwal, Sanghachalak of RSS Delhi Prant, will participate as the Guest of Honour.

Eight decades of ideological journalism

Since its inception in 1947, Organiser has evolved from a weekly publication into a significant platform for nationalist thought. Through editorials, reportage, research-based features and commentary, it has engaged with issues relating to national security, governance, education, economy, culture, civilisational identity, social harmony, strategic affairs and public policy.

The publication has consistently highlighted subjects often overlooked in mainstream discourse, including India’s civilisational heritage, Bharatiya knowledge, border security, demographic issues, national integration and the contributions of grassroots organisations.

In recent years, Organiser has expanded its digital presence while continuing its print edition, reaching readers through its website and social media platforms. Its editorial focus remains centred on presenting news and analysis through the lens of national interest, cultural continuity and informed public debate.

The organisers have invited readers, well-wishers, journalists and members of the public to participate in the event celebrating 80 years of Organiser’s contribution to Indian journalism and national discourse.
