New Delhi: In a significant move aimed at strengthening the judicial apparatus in the state, Bihar deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary on December 7 announced to setup 100 fast track courts.
The decision was made considering the burden of the pending cases before the courts in the state which is reported to be exceeding 18 lakhs.
The Minister said that constitution of fast track courts will bring in a big relief to the judicial system. He added that the government will soon undertake a recruitment drive to fill around 900 posts required in this regard.
“To operationalise 100 fast track courts across 38 districts and sub-divisions, the government will undertake large-scale recruitment,” said Choudhary.
The Minister further informed that 79 courts will be designated as ‘act courts’ to fast track cases related to the Arms Act, adding that swift disposal of such serious cases will strengthen law and order in the state.
According to details, the government will setup 8 fast track courts in Patna alone followed by Gaya Ji, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur where four such courts each will be established.
As many as 24 fast track courts will be established across Bihar Sharif, Saran, Begusarai, Madhubani, Samastipur, Sasaram, Vaishali and East Champaran districts with three such courts in each of the districts.
The rest of the courts will be setup across separate districts and sub-divisions of the state, suggest reports in media.
Earlier on Saturday, Home Minister Choudhary also launched the Citizen Service Portal (CCTNS). The platform has been design to provide separate police related service to citizens via digital medium.
Choudhary also chaired a high-level meeting with senior police official passing strict instructions to strengthen the law and order. According to details, the Home Minister instructed officials to act strictly against those involved in illegal mining and paper leaks.
He directed officials to seize vehicles used in illegal mining and complete the auction process of such confiscated vehicles within 15 days of seizure. Choudhary also instructed officials to decrease the response time to 10 minutes on 112 emergency dial service.
