NEW DELHI: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Joint General Secretary Dr Surendra Kumar Jain on October 3 hailed Captain Smit Machchhar for displaying exceptional courage and foiling what he described as a conspiracy to repeat 9/11.
Addressing a press conference, Dr Jain said that radical Islam has become a challenge for the entire humanity. He said the global community is concerned about the issue, but the time has come for the world to adopt a joint strategy to defeat the challenge.
Dr Jain said Bharat has suffered from this “barbaric mentality” for the past 1,400 years. He said that after the Partition of Bharat on religious lines, the country should have been freed from this mentality, but “appeasement politics in the name of secular politics” had further aggravated the problem.
He alleged that attacks on Hindu religious programmes, the abduction of Hindu girls through force or deception in the name of “love jihad”, and attacks on Hindu settlements have become frequent. He further alleged that killings of Hindus under various pretexts continue.
Releasing a list of 254 Hindus allegedly killed by “jihadis” between January 2026 and August 31, 2026, Dr Jain said the list included only those incidents that had come to the attention of the media. He added that several other incidents that were not reported in the media had also come to notice.
He appealed to all to rise above party interests and vested interests and work to protect the country from the crisis. He alleged that “selfish Islamic forces” and their declared and undeclared spokespersons repeatedly provoke the Muslim community and threaten another Partition.
Calling upon Hindu society to remain cautious, Dr Jain said that Hindus are the main target of these alleged “jihadis” and should exercise particular caution while dealing with them. He urged Hindus living near sensitive locations to remain alert and prepared for self-defence.
VHP’s Demands to Governments
The VHP appealed to all governments to take the following measures:
1. Cases involving incidents against Hindus based on religious hatred should immediately be sent to Fast Track Courts, and it should be ensured that those found guilty receive the strictest punishment at the earliest.
2. Dr Jain alleged that “jihadis” have begun using minors to carry out violence or killings so that they may receive lesser punishment because of their age. He demanded that for acts such as murder and attacks on religious grounds, minors should mandatorily be treated as adults for legal proceedings.
3. He alleged that madrasas are centres for creating religious radicalism and hatred and called for strict action to control them. He also referred to restrictions on madrasas in several countries and said the Rajasthan High Court had also sought greater control over them.
4. High-capacity cameras should be installed at sensitive locations, including mosques and madrasas, with their monitoring linked to nearby police stations.
5. The activities of institutions and politicians allegedly encouraging Islamic radicalism should be monitored and their anti-social activities should be curbed.
VHP appeals to Muslim leadership
The VHP also appealed to the “harmony-loving leadership” of the Muslim community.
Dr Jain said the alleged jihadi tendency was “self-destructive” for the Muslim community and claimed that Muslim youth becoming trapped in radicalism were damaging their future. He said increasing hatred towards Islam was an indication that the global community was becoming alert to such alleged conspiracies.
He urged Muslim leadership to stop denying or covering up terrorist and separatist conspiracies and instead acknowledge them and encourage introspection within the Muslim community.
He further called upon Muslim leadership to abandon separatist and “jihadi” tendencies and move towards peaceful coexistence.
The VHP and Bajrang Dal, Dr Jain said, would not remain mute spectators to the situation and were considering constitutionally permissible measures for the protection of Hindus.
