Jammu: Continuing its crackdown on narcotics under the Nasha Mukti Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, the Srinagar district police has attached immovable properties worth approximately Rs 5.60 crore under Section 68F of the NDPS Act, 1985. An official spokesman of the police said on Sunday that the move is aimed at dismantling the financial network of drug traffickers by seizing assets allegedly acquired through proceeds of illicit drug trade.

Incidentally, it needs to be said here that the official value of the properties recorded in registration and related documents is often far less than the actual market price. This happens as lots of transactions between buyers and sellers are done using black money and that component is not reflected in public documents. This is a fairly common practice in land related documents as showing lesser value in records often leads to lesser registration charges.

It also needs to be mentioned here that despite conclusion of special 100-day drive of Nasha Mukt J&K culminating on July 21, seizures of properties, cancellation of driving licenses, seizure of vehicles and other actions under NDPS are continuing in all 20 districts. It is now fairly routine to read reports of such actions being taken at police station (thana) level and only a few districts are providing figures consolidated at the district level.

Police attached seven immovable properties in Chanapora jurisdiction. These include property worth Rs 65 lakh belonging to Mohd Yaseen Rather S/o Abdul Salam Rather, R/o Chanapora, linked to FIR No. 42/2023 U/S 8/21, 22 NDPS Act. Property worth Rs 60 lakh belonging to Suhail Rashid Haroon S/o Abdul Rashid Haroon, R/o Lane-I, Gousia Colony, Lal Nagar, linked to FIR No. 41/2025 U/S 8/22, 29 NDPS Act. Property worth Rs 75 lakh belonging to Mohd Asif Rather S/o Abdul Rahman Rather, R/o Bagh-i-Mehtab, linked to FIR No. 35/2026 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act.

Also attached was property worth Rs 35 lakh belonging to Arsalan Syed Beigh S/o Syed Ahmad Beigh, R/o Azad Basti, Natipora, linked to FIR No. 28/2026 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act. Property worth Rs 1 crore belonging to Hilal Ahmad Parray S/o Mohd Ismail Parray, R/o Budshah Nagar, Natipora, linked to FIR No. 23/2026 U/S 8/21, 29 NDPS Act. Property worth Rs 75 lakh belonging to Danish Reyaz Shah S/o Reyaz Ahmad Shah, R/o Sanat Nagar, linked to FIR No. 21/2025 U/S 8/22, 29 NDPS Act. And property worth Rs 70 lakh belonging to Saqib Naseer Beigh S/o Naseer Ahmad Beigh, R/o Baramulla, A/P Natipora, linked to FIR No. 45/2025 U/S 8/21, 29 NDPS Act.

Police Station Saddar attached a residential house worth approximately Rs 80 lakh belonging to Shaheem Farooq Bhat S/o Farooq Ahmad Bhat, R/o SD Colony, Natipora. The property was attached in connection with FIR No. 08/2026 U/S 8/21, 29 NDPS Act.

Police said all the attached properties have been identified as illegally acquired assets generated from drug trafficking. The attachments have been carried out in accordance with NDPS Act provisions and are subject to confirmation by the competent authority wherever applicable.

“Srinagar Police remains unwavering in its resolve to dismantle the financial backbone of drug trafficking syndicates. By depriving drug peddlers of unlawfully acquired wealth, we aim to disrupt the economic networks sustaining the drug menace and send a strong message that crime will not pay,” a police spokesperson said.

Police reiterated their commitment to making society drug-free and appealed to the public to share information regarding drug trafficking. All inputs, police said, will be treated with utmost confidentiality, the police has promised.
