An independent inquiry conducted by the British Member of Parliament(MP) Rupert Lowe has unveiled a hazardous pandora box that testifies strong dark links between the grooming gangs of the United Kingdom and Pakistan. As per the reports, 95 per cent of the grooming gangs in the UK comprises Pakistani Muslim men who have harassed and sexually assaulted more than 2,50,000 young girls over a decade.
Thus, the British MP Rupert Lowe categorically called them as “Pakistani Muslim rape gangs” and has challenged, refuted the general perception of “Asian grooming gangs”. He has also highlighted institutional failures in exposing these Pakistani Muslim men, who form the epicentre of the UK grooming gangs nexus. “Stop calling them ‘Asian’ ‘grooming gangs’. They are not Japanese. Call them what they are. Predominately Pakistani Muslim rape gangs”, wrote MP Rupert Lowe on the X platform.
The independent report on the UK grooming gangs based on Lowe’s systemic inquiry young girls of the United Kingdom are subjected to gang rape, trafficking, pregnancy and forced conversion to Islam. The report further adds that this racket has been running in the country since the 1950s. The report says that the inquiry was established to examine the “systematic targeting of vulnerable girls, overwhelmingly White British, by predominantly Muslim Pakistani gangs across towns and cities up and down the nation”.
The highlight of the report is the specific mention towards Pakistani Muslim men, who form the epicentre of the UK grooming gang nexus. Earlier, these gangs were generalised as Asians, thus imposing a negative imprint about all the Asian community, which apparently comprises hundreds of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. However, Rupert Lowe asserts that using broad terms such as Asian masks the ethnic and cultural background of many offenders.
Lowe has repeatedly raised concerns in the British Parliament as well, about spiking dominance of Pakistani Muslim men in the grooming gangs of the United Kingdom. “The overwhelming majority of the rape gang networks consisted entirely of men from Muslim backgrounds-predominantly of Pakistani heritage, although smaller groups from Somali, Iranian, Syrian, Turkish and other Muslim origins were involved too”, the report further adds.
The report reiterates that the young British girls were lured and attracted prior to exploitation. The Pakistani Muslim men from the grooming gangs initially gained the trust of the girls. Later, they were subjected to repeated sexual abuse in flats, hotel rooms and other locations. The victims were even addressed with deregotary & abusive language such as “White trash”, “Kuffar” etc. Some girls were even as young as 11 years. Even Sikh girls were targeted. However, the intensity of sikh girls being victims reduced after the community took rigorous preventive measures.
The Lowe’s independent inquiry also has released a lot of testimonials as evidence to these sexual atrocities of Pakistani Muslim men in the UK. The report further reiterates that the Pakistani perpetrators built organised trafficking networks to transport the young girls between locations. The girls were fed with drugs, alcohol and later the girls were supplied between various men. The sexual abuse were also filmed for threatening and blackmailing the girls or their family.
The report is curated based on testimony of survivors, relatives, media reports, previous public inquiries and whistleblowers. It claims these crimes have been taking place since the 1950s and that the same patterns were found in at least 149 local authority districts or nearly 40 per cent of all such districts across the UK. The report states that non-Muslim girls, especially the white working class girls were used a properties for sexual abuse, the report adds.
The report by MP Rupert Lowe further adds Islamic angle to the atrocities of the Pakistani Muslim men as a part of the UK grooming gang. He claims how religious fundamentals and Islamic theological preachings added fuel to the sexual abuse agenda of these Pakistani muslim men. “Perpetrators from Pakistani Muslim and other Muslim backgrounds operated under an honour and shame-based clan code that treated non-Muslim girls, especially white working-class girls, as property available for sexual use. This pattern was reinforced by eight theological and legal aspects of Islam”, the report further reads.
This includes the doctrine of Muslim superiority drawn from the Quranic verses that positions Muslims at the top with a duty to correct non-believers. The gang members’ justification for their crimes can be found in the Islamic principles of loyalty and disavowal, the report thus highlights how religious teachings are acting as a push for the sexual abuse.
The report also illustrates the evidence and heart wrenching saga of the young victim girls. One of the victims, Chloe, was continuously abused by the Pakistani Muslim grooming gang from age 10 to 11 via taxis, hotels and drugs. She was impregnated by a Pakistani Muslim migrant. An attempt was made to forcibly convert her to Islam. She knew at least 20 more victims.
Another victim, Fiona, revealed that she was groomed at the age of 13 in care homes by Pakistani men. She was abused by 50-100 men, all Pakistani Muslims and was subjected to extreme brutalities.
Another focal point highlighted by MP Rupert Lowe is the systemic neglect and institutional failure in protecting the young girls. He claims that the government, political representatives, media houses, civil society, the police system and others were well aware of the nexus of grooming gangs and their spiking atrocities.
However, the government, western media and other organs chose to remain silent under the fear of being labelled as “racist” or “Islamophobic”. This systemic institutional negligence helped grooming gangs and Pakistani Muslim men operate freely that cost lakhs of innocent lives of young girls for more than a decade. “Successive govts lacked the will to confront the ethnic and religious patterns. Prioritised electoral reliance on Muslim voting blocs and framed legitimate concerns as far-right agitation”, the report further writes.
MP Rupert Lowe also asserts that the state and its institutions have failed catastrophically over decades. Police, social services, schools, NHS, taxi licensing authorities and successive governments allowed these gangs to operate with impunity. For example, victim Chloe revealed that she was dismissed as a “prostitute” by the police and even social services prioritised contraception over ensuring that her violators were brought to justice.
Similarly, Fiona noted that the police returned Fiona to her abusers, while the care staff remained negligent. Fiona said that the care staff may have not been complicit in the rape jihadi crimes but was aware and reluctant to blow the whistle fearing adverse repercussions, including being labelled ‘racist’.
In the report, MP Rupert Lowe, thus calls for stringent actions against these grooming gangs of the UK which is dominated by the Pakistani Muslim men. He has called for the deportation of Pakistani nationals convicted in grooming gang cases and urged authorities to pursue stronger legal action against offenders. Lowe has repeatedly said that the focus should remain on justice for victims and accountability for those responsible for the abuse. In another post, he wrote: “The victims were failed for decades. The truth was ignored, hidden and denied. That must never happen again”.
The MP also said that the mosques in the United Kingdom that harboured perpetrators must be probed. If it is found guilty such religious centres must be permanently closed. He also said that a government taskforce must be set up to liberate all the victims and put the grooming gang behind bars by espousing rigorous investigations.
This independent inquiry under MP Rupert Lowe, thus is an eye-opener in understanding how the grooming gang nexus of the United Kingdom is fuelled by Pakistani Muslim men. The use of specific terminologies pertaining to Pakistani, rather than using a generic term such as “Asian” reflects the reality of Pakistani atrocities overseas, targeting innocent young girls.
