GUWAHATI: By March 31, 2026, India will be freed from Maoist terrorism, said Union Home Minister Amit Shah on February 21 in Guwahati. Participating in the 87th CRPF Day Parade in Guwahati, Home Minister Shah reiterated his bold promise to end Naxalism by March 2026. He said, ”February is about to end. I reiterate that we will completely eliminate Maoist violence from the country before March 31, 2026.”
Commending the role of CRPF in curbing left terrorism, Home Minister Shah mentioned that Maoist violence gripped the people of 12 states across the country. When the PM Modi government decided to completely eradicate this Naxalite violence from the country, the CRPF and Cobra battalion soldiers played a major role in this. They completed three years of arduous struggle while undertaking such a difficult task.”
Describing the toughest operation led by CRPF against Maoist terrorism, the Union Home Minister said, “Operation ‘Black Forest’ is being carried out in Naxal-affected areas to wipe out ‘Red Terrorism’. CRPF soldiers operated in such harsh geographical conditions – working in 46-degree heat for 21 days in the scorching sun – and freeing the area from Naxalism.”

Describing the operation preparedness of CRPF, home minister Shah said, Even when Left Wing Extremists killed 78 police personnel in Kolkata, the CRPF took charge. There have been numerous occasions, including the Parliament attack and the Ram Janmabhoomi attack, where the deployment of the CRPF ensured the failure of the nation’s enemies.
He further added, On April 9, 1965, the CRPF displayed bravery in fighting the Pakistani Army at Sardar Post in the Rann of Kutch. The nation celebrates Shaurya Diwas on April 9 in memory of the brave soldiers of the central force.
It should be noted that, for the first time in the CRPF’s 86-year history, its Raising Day parade is being celebrated in Assam, in the Northeast. This is a matter of pride for the people of Assam and for the entire Northeast. Home minister Shah said, “For 86 years, this parade was never celebrated in the Northeast. In 2019, we decided that the annual parade would be celebrated in different parts of the country, and today I am very proud that this magnificent parade was held in the Northeast.”
Praising the sacrifices made by CRPF in the last 86 years, Home Minister Shah said,”the CRPF has become a strong pillar of this nation’s security, delivering not only outstanding performance but also tangible results. In this process, 2,270 soldiers have sacrificed their lives. I thank and pay tribute to all of them.”
