As part of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) centenary year programmes, a grand Hindu sammelan was held at Har Ki Pauri on January 25 under the aegis of the Shri Ganga Hindu Sammelan Samiti. The chief guest of the programme, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Harichetnanand Giri Maharaj, appealed to the Hindu community, saying that the time is favourable and if we do not awaken now, the future will never forgive us.
He said that efforts to divide Hindus on the basis of caste and class have been ongoing for years, and Hindus need to be vigilant against this. He added that the initiative to prohibit non-Hindus from entering the Har Ki Pauri Ganga Ghat is highly commendable. Those with a Jihadi mindset should not be allowed to enter Hindu religious sites.
The Prant Pracharak Dr Shailendra, in his keynote address, said that the main objective of the Hindu sammelans being organised in the centenary year of the RSS is to unite the Hindus and revive the traditions. Today, Hinduism is being attacked all over the world; wherever the number of Hindus has decreased, there they are being divided. The condition of Hindus in our neighbouring countries is not hidden from anyone.
Expressing concern, he said that the demographic change in Uttarakhand has clearly indicated what the condition of the State will be in the coming years.
Hinduism has the spirit of unification. Whatever has come into Hinduism has been wholeheartedly accepted by all. Today, thousands of people are living virtuous lives, influenced by Hindutva.
Supporting the demand to declare the Haridwar Kumbh area a Hindu holy site, he said on the prohibition of entry of non-Hindus at Har Ki Pauri that those who try to enter religious places with a Jihadi mindset, what is their motive? Strict laws should be made against such people and all Hindus should ensure that the sanctity of Hindu pilgrimage sites is maintained. He said that only if our religious culture remains intact, the country will be able to progress.
