Emphasising cinema’s powerful influence on society, Majhi noted that films like Godaan play a crucial role in spreading social awareness and fostering cultural understanding. He said meaningful and value-based cinema has the potential to shape positive attitudes, particularly among the younger generation, at a time when traditional values are gradually fading.
The Chief Minister also announced that the State government would soon establish a Cow Research Centre in Odisha. He said the proposed centre would focus on research, conservation, and awareness related to indigenous cattle breeds and traditional practices associated with them. “After watching the premiere of Godaan, I felt the film deserves to be made tax-free across the State. Besides, we will also set up research centres in Odisha,” Majhi said.
Urging youth and families to watch the film together, the Chief Minister appealed to the public to support socially relevant cinema that upholds cultural ethos and ethical values. He expressed hope that Godaan would receive widespread appreciation from audiences across Odisha.
The premiere event was attended by Mines and Steel Minister Shri Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, the film’s director and producer Shri Binod Kumar Choudhury, several MLAs, and other distinguished guests.
Speaking at the event, Vinod Kumar Choudhury said that the cow is not merely an animal but represents the cultural soul of India, serving as a foundation of Indian life since the Vedic era. He expressed concern that the younger generation is gradually forgetting the significance of the cow. The filmmaker said Godaan prominently highlights the concept of Panchagavya and the five transformations it brings, demonstrating how it can positively impact human life. He added that the subject has been presented in the film with a scientific perspective to connect tradition with modern understanding
