Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 28, addressed the nation in the 129th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, marking the last broadcast of 2025. As the country prepares to step into 2026, the Prime Minister reflected on key events, discussions, and achievements of the past year which, he said, brought Indians together and reinforced national unity.

Describing 2025 as a year filled with defining moments, PM Modi said memories from across the year came rushing back during the address. He noted that these events gave citizens multiple reasons to feel proud of the country and confident about India’s direction and future.

A major focus of the Prime Minister’s address was Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. Launched on May 7, 2025, the operation targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Calling Operation Sindoor a defining moment of the year, PM Modi said it had become a symbol of pride for every Indian. He emphasised that the operation sent a clear message to the world about India’s approach to national security.

“This year, Operation Sindoor became a symbol of pride for every Indian. The world clearly saw that today’s Bharat does not compromise on its security,” the Prime Minister said.

According to him, the operation reflected India’s firm and uncompromising stand on sovereignty and national safety, underlining the country’s readiness to act decisively against threats.

PM Modi also highlighted the emotional response generated by Operation Sindoor, not only within India but across the global Indian diaspora. He said powerful images of love, unity, and devotion towards Mother India emerged from every corner of the world during the operation.

The Prime Minister noted that Indians living abroad expressed strong emotional and moral support, reinforcing the sense of unity and shared national commitment beyond geographical boundaries.

“During Operation Sindoor, pictures of love and devotion towards Mother India emerged from every corner of the world,” he said, pointing to the deep emotional connect of the diaspora with the nation.

Linking the spirit witnessed during Operation Sindoor with other moments of collective pride, PM Modi referred to the completion of 150 years of Vande Mataram. He said the same भावना of devotion and patriotism was visible across the country during moments of heightened national sentiment, including the India Pakistan conflict period.

According to the Prime Minister, such occasions strengthen the fabric of national unity and remind citizens of their shared values, responsibilities, and cultural roots.

“These moments remind us of what binds us together as a nation,” he said, adding that collective experiences play a crucial role in shaping India’s future.

As he concluded his address, PM Modi said the shared experiences of 2025 would serve as inspiration in the years ahead. He stressed that the pride, unity, and commitment displayed by Indians throughout the year would continue to guide the nation as it moves forward.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the spirit seen during challenging and celebratory moments alike would remain a driving force for India’s progress in 2026 and beyond.
