Raipur: A 24-year-old woman was injured in a pressure Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on December 12. The injured lady, identified as Lachhi Madvi was administered primary treatment and subsequently rushed to district hospital, where she is being treated.
The incident occurred in the forest area along Chunchkota village under the jurisdiction of Farsegarh police station limits when Lacchi was out for cattle razing work. She accidently came in contact with the IED planted by Maoists, triggering an explosion which left her seriously wounded.
A team of security personnel also reached the spot upon receiving information about the explosion which occurred at around 3pm in the evening.
Maoists plant pressure IEDs to cause harm to security personnel and to obstruct forward movement of security teams into deep forests zone used as hideouts by ultras. Ordinary citizens navigating through forests trails for their daily works such as collection of forest produce and cattle razing work however often came in contact with these IEDs accidently, leading to explosions.

“Today the entire country knows that in just two years, because of the double engine government (Union and the state) and the firm resolve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, our security forces have fought Maoists with exceptional courage. Under Home Minister Shah’s guidance Naxalism is moving towards complete elimination,” said the CM.
