Raebareli: Rahul Gandhi’s UK citizenship case hearing took an ugly turn when the Congress backed advocates and supporters disrupted the working by entering into the court room. Petitioner S Vignesh Shishir while speaking to the Organiser informed the court that the working of the court was disrupted for almost an hour. The Principal District Judge had to intervene to get the proceedings resumed there after hearing went on till 2:45 pm.

Owing to the utter chaos, the court proceedings had to be stopped and the judge had to be escorted by the police owing to the alleged violent behavior of the Congress supporters.

Shishir told Organiser that all the evidence including the overseas videos of Rahul Gandhi have been provided as evidence in pen drive to the court.

The hearing of the case began on December 3, when a complaint was filed in the Raebareli MP-MLA court questioning Rahul Gandhi’s citizenship status. Following the submission of the complaint, the court had sought a report from the City Kotwali police within 48 hours. Police submitted their report, after which the court resumed the hearing today.

The petition has been filed by S. Vignesh Shishir, Member of Bharatiya Janata Party, who claimed that Gandhi holds British citizenship and has been allegedly serving as a Member of Parliament for two decades in violation of Indian law. Shishir asserted that both the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) were already looking into aspects of this matter. “This is perhaps the first time in Indian political history that a foreign citizen has allegedly been in Parliament for 20 years,” he claimed.

Shishir further stated that he had obtained passport-related information from both the British and Indian governments, which he argued strengthens his case. He expressed willingness to furnish any documents or evidence sought by the court or the police during the proceedings.

Advocate Vindheshwari Pandey, representing the petitioner, said that the plea contains “strong evidence and serious allegations,” including issues related to passport documentation and a series of purported violations. Pandey added that based on the police report sought by the court, an FIR could be registered or summons could be issued to Rahul Gandhi.
