Itanagal: Massive outrage in Arunachal Pradesh state capital region area against illegal settlers who are threatening the tribal identity of the state.

Arunachal Pradesh Indigenous Youth Organisation (APIYO) has been continuously awakening the locals and conducting drives against constructions of illegal mosques and madrassas in capital city Itanagar and nearby areas. Arunachal Pradesh government has issued a list of illegal mosques and madrassas in the capital region area. As per the list capital Jama Masjid, Borum Madrassa, Konkad Masjid, Nirjuli Masjid, Boda Namsi Masjid and six Panja Khana constructed by Bangladeshi origin Muslims are illegal and unauthorised.

The superintendent of police, Naharlagun informed the home department that there are 12 mosques and madrassas illegally constructed in the capital region by the illegal settlers. They even constructed an illegal masjid near the helipad in Naharlagun which is a serious security concern. The land where the mosque was constructed in 2009 is on lease since 31 August 2024 only which means the masjid was constructed illegally in tribal land 15 years before the lease agreement was signed. The masjid has no government approval and legal registration where 10 children are being taught religious studies. The mosque authorities have not taken any building permission, development permission from the city planning authority prior to construction of the building.

During a visit to the illegal mosque the General Secretary Tapore Meying and President Taro Sonam  Liaq of APIYO asked the Maulana of Illegal Mosque to say Bharat Mata Ki Jay. However the Islamic clerics refused to do so. APIYO members asked them, how could you be an Indian if you refuse to say,  Bharat Mata Ki Jai? It should be mentioned that APIYO has issued stern warnings to the Bangladeshi origin Muslims who often say that they have come from Assam to leave the state within November or face tough consequences.

The APIYO has started a movement from capital city Itanagar from November 15 to raise awareness against the Miya intruders. Thousands of infiltrators have sneaked into the beautiful state of the and settled in different parts of the state and the numbers are growing day by day. These people have been indulged in various crimes including molestration, rapes and murder of local people.  APIYO alleged that dozens of illegal Masques and Madrassas have come up in different parts of the state in the last few years. “If we people don’t wake up now the situation will be out of control. Everybody knows this, but nobody has raised their voice. But we must act before it’s too late”, said one member of the forum.

The forum on Saturday searched many such illegal mosques in Naharlagun area and asked for construction permission, ILP and approval of concerned authorities. But the mosque and madrassa authorities have failed to show any legal documents. The forum appealed to the state government to take immediate action against such illegal activities and warned that if the government failed to do so, the public will take necessary steps to curb the illegal immigration.

It should be mentioned that Arunachal Pradesh is a tribal state any nonresident of the state needs Inner Line Permit (ILP) to visit the state. The youth forum alleged that the Bangladeshi Miya Muslims who mainly come from Assam and particularly from Bongalamora area of Lakimpur district in Assam. The place is known as mini Bangladesh and all illegal activities take place there. The Miya people enter Arunachal with fake ILP and do all the illegal activities including drugs smuggling, fake gold smuggling and fake currency smuggling etc.

One female member of the forum said, “Our future will be like the Chakma people, landless, if we don’t take action now. If we rain asleep now, soon the tribal people have to vacate their own land.” Another member of the forum said, “ They have a history of violence. Look at the recent Delhi blast, only these people are involved. Jihad is in their veins. Once their population reaches a certain percentage, they will repeat the same thing in Arunachal too.” The Arunachali Indigenous Youth Forum said that they are ready for a long battle but will not allow the Miya, Muslims to reside in the peaceful state. They appealed to the state government to act immediately and stop all illegal construction of mosques and cancel all forged ILP.
