It is to be noted that the battle against Maoists has reached its final stages with officials expressing confidence to eradicate the Maoist menace before the Union Government’s declared deadline of March next year.
Notably, more than 2200 Maoists have surrendered before police in Chhattisgarh since December 2023 marking a major turnaround in the tribal dominated state once identified with red terror.
Over 450 Maoists were also killed during separate encounters that took place between security forces and Naxals in Chhattisgarh in the same time period. This include neutralisation of several top Maoist leaders including Maoist’s former general secretary Nambala Kesava Rao and notorious Maoist commander Madvi Hidma, the only tribal member in the Maoist’s central committee.
