Christian evangelism has long been known for its innovative and carefully established methods, often operating so subtly that people do not realise they have become subjects of it—except the person directing the effort. Schoolchildren, in particular, are gradually exposed to a positive portrayal of Christianity, while certain aspects are deliberately concealed. This gradual shaping of impressionable minds frequently occurs without the knowledge or consent of parents.
In a similar pattern, a Christian pastor is accused of taking alleged students of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Vellore, to a screening of the religious film ‘Face of the Faceless’ on 22 November. The incident has shocked parents, who allege that this was a clear attempt to sow religious ideas in young minds without their approval.
The film, which narrates the life of a nun, is currently being screened in Vellore and neighbouring areas. It is alleged that a c school, a Christian school and college management compelled students to attend the screening at a Katpadi theatre. A video showing pupils entering the theatre has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread outrage among Hindu parents.
Hindu Munnani strongly condemned the church management, calling the act “highly condemnable”. The organisation stated that taking children to watch a film based on Christianity without parental permission was fundamentally wrong. It questioned whether the state government had mandated viewing the film. “Under the Dravidian Model government, the education department has been turned into a religious department,” it alleged.
The organisation urged the District Education Officer and the School Education Minister to take action against the management for taking children from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School and other institutions to a religious film in Katpadi.
Critics point out that these activities represent attempts to forcibly shape the thoughts of innocent children according to a predetermined agenda. Beliefs planted in early years, they say, become difficult to challenge with reason and logic. Children rely on teachers and authority figures during their formative years; when confronted later, many are unwilling or unable to acknowledge the darker aspects of Church history in India and globally.
According to reports, the Church authorities runs around 6,000 of the estimated over 8000 schools in Tamil Nadu that receive government aid, commonly referred to as “aided schools”.
In recent months, several allegations have emerged against certain Christian-run schools in Tamil Nadu, accusing them of engaging in forceful religious indoctrination and harassment, with some cases reportedly leading to the deaths of students.
Church facilitating new voters amidst SIR
In a separate development, fresh allegations of voter-list manipulation have emerged in Tambaram. It is alleged that laity members attending a local church were enrolled in the electoral roll using questionable residential details.
According to AIADMK cadres, a check at Irumbuliyur in the Tambaram Assembly constituency revealed 510 votes registered in just two houses. At Roja Gardens Second Street, Door No. 1 reportedly has 150 voters, and two houses together account for 510 voters—an anomaly flagged by the opposition.
Following the complaint, the Booth Level Officer (BLO) inspected the houses and reportedly found only 54 persons residing there. Subsequent verification in Gayathri Nagar Third Street also revealed irregularities, with 60 and 40 voters linked to a single Roja Garden address. The BLO confirmed that the remaining names would be deleted from the rolls.
It is alleged that people attending the church provided these house numbers to secure inclusion in the voter list.

An official said, “There is a church in Roja Garden Street with 687 votes. But in one street alone, there are more than 400 votes. Of them, 54 have been given forms under the SIR exercise. The rest of the voters, it is assumed, are not present at the given addresses. Their names will be deleted.”
Opposition parties argue that this explains why the DMK government is resisting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. They allege that the ruling party used such methods as part of appeasement politics. “In CM Stalin’s constituency too, there have been allegations of bogus voters. SIR is a cleansing exercise to weed out dead, migrated, and bogus voters,” they claim.
