As anticipation peaks in the temple town, Ayodhya is gearing up for a historic saffron flag-hoisting,“Dhwajarohan” at the Ram Janmabhoomi mandir on November 25. The ceremony, which will see Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoist a Bhagwa flag atop the 161-foot main spire, marks the first time all seven temple spires will carry saffron flags simultaneously, a moment the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust calls “deeply emotional for crores of devotees.”

In view of the significance of the event, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will hold a high-level review meeting in Ayodhya on Tuesday. He will personally inspect arrangements, particularly those connected to PM Modi’s visit and the ceremonial proceedings.

The grand event coincides with Vivah Panchami, the auspicious day marking the divine marriage of Shri Ram and Maa Sita, a festival celebrated with immense devotion across Ayodhya.

The Dhwajarohan will be performed jointly by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat ji in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and CM Yogi Adityanath.

Officials say the government aims to welcome attendees in the spirit of “Atithi Devo Bhava”, with thousands of saints, dignitaries, VVIPs, and international guests expected to be present.

Senior officials from the Uttar Pradesh administration and members of the Teerth Kshetra Trust are stationed across Ayodhya to monitor preparations. Both the PMO and CMO are tracking every update in real time.

To ensure wider public participation, the event will be broadcast live through major TV and digital platforms. Special arrangements include:

  • A 200-foot-wide LED screen inside the temple complex
  • Over 30 large digital screens across Ayodhya for public viewing
  • More than 1,600 guest rooms booked in Ayodhya and nearby areas

Facilities prepared at Karsevakpuram, Ramsevakpuram, and Teerth Kshetra Puram, complete with winter bedding and blankets

Ayodhya will be under an unprecedented security blanket on November 25. The arrangements include:

  • Thousands of personnel from the UP Police, PAC, CRPF, and intelligence units
  • Drone surveillance throughout the city
  • An integrated CCTV monitoring system
  • Strict crowd management protocols to handle the enormous influx of visitors

Ayodhya’s transformation since the Ram Temple construction has led to a record-breaking rise in devotees and tourists:

  • 57.5 million visitors in 2023 (before temple completion)
  • Over 160 million in 2024
  • 230 million visitors in just the first six months of 2025

This surge surpasses tourist footfall at the Taj Mahal, Varanasi, and Mathura and even exceeds annual visitor numbers recorded in several countries.

The enormous influx has pushed Ayodhya’s annual economic activity to Rs 8,000-Rs12,500 crore, making it a key driver of Uttar Pradesh’s booming tourism sector. By 2028, UP tourism is expected to cross Rs 70,000 crore, with Ayodhya at the heart of this growth.

Today, Ayodhya accounts for 1.5 percent of UP’s GSDP, positioning itself as a crucial pillar in the state’s trillion-dollar economy roadmap.
