Guwahati: Singing icon Zubeen Garg was murdered in Singapore. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the icon’s death was not an accident. Speaking to reporters in Tezpur on November 2 CM Sarma said, “Today I will not say it was an accident, we will file the chargesheet of the murder by December 8.”

The sensational remark by the chief minister sent a shockwave amongst the fans and followers of late Zubeen Garg. The CM said that Assam police SIT is proving the death of the beloved singer. He said, “The incident took place in a foreign country, so police need a home ministry approval before filing the chargesheet. I have met the home minister in Delhi and discussed the matter. The SIT will get the required approval soon from the MHA.”

Zubeen Garg died in Singapore on September 19 in a mysterious manner. Seven people have been arrested so far by the SIT which is investigating the death of the popular singer. Zubeen Garg was in Singapore to attend the Northeast festival but on 19th September he attended a yacht party and went to swim in the sea. But the popular singer lost his life while swimming in the sea.

Many theories have come up after the mysterious death of Zubeen Garg. Opposition political parties including the Congress and left are trying to create a political issue out of it. But the BJP government in Assam is sincerely trying to solve the mystery and give justice to the singing icon and his crores of followers. The SIT has recently visited Singapore and investigated the matter with the Singapore police.

The Singapore police has handed over the toxicology report of the late singer to Assam police. Northeast Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, Zubeen’s manager Shidharth Sharma, his co-singer Amrit Prabha Mahanta, his cousin and Assam police DSP Sandeepan Garg, band mate Shekhar Giswami and  his two police security guards were arrested by the SIT in link with the mysterious death of the 52 years old singer. Over 75 people were quizzed by the investigating team so far. But all eyes are on now in the chargesheet to be filed by the SIT in court by December 8. Lakhs of followers of the popular singer are waiting to know in what circumstances he died thousands of kilometers away from Assam.
