Global Vijay dashmi celebrations: Crossing the borders literally

Traditionally, on the occasion of Vijayadashami, there used to be the tradition of crossing the borders of city or villages to keep a vigilance. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on October 2 completed 100 years of its journey. In the last 100 years, it has been relentlessly and tirelessly engaged in national service.

On this occasion, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) Thailand brought together families, youth, and community members for the Sanchalan and Vijayadashami Utsav 2025, held on October 5 at Dev Mandir, Hindu Samaj, Bangkok.

The event, filled with devotion, discipline, and cultural pride, celebrated not only the spirit of Vijayadashami but also marked 100 years of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), an organisation that continues to inspire generations through service and values.

Celebrating 100 Years of Selfless Service

On September 27, 2025, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) completes a glorious 100 years of unwavering dedication and selfless service to Bharat Mata and humanity. A century ago, the first Shakha began in Nagpur – and since then, the spirit of Sewa, Sangathan, and Sanskar has spread across the world, touching countless lives. To honor this monumental milestone, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh Nederland (HSS NL) launches on World Postal day (On October 9) a special commemorative postal stamp – a symbol of one hundred years of unity, discipline, and devotion to the world’s universal Dharma.

The Vijayadashami Utsav featured a path sanchalan led by the Sangh Ghosh, followed by cultural performances, traditional prayers, and bauddhik. The event was graced by the presence of Sushil Kumar Dhanuka, HSS Bangkok Mahanagar Sanghchalak, and Naveen Sharma, HSS Thailand Sanghchalak, along with Hon. Brahm Bhism Ji from Vamadevamuni Devasthan Bosth Brahman, Bangkok, as the Chief Guest; Dr Ramnivas Ji, Sangh Pracharak and esteemed scholar of Hindu and Bauddha Dharma Samanvaya, as the keynote speaker; and Shri Susheel Kumar Saraff, VHP Global Vice President, as a distinguished guest.

In their address, both the guests emphasised the importance of preserving heritage while adapting to the modern world. The atmosphere at Dev Mandir was vibrant with families, children, and youth participating enthusiastically, a reflection of HSS Thailand’s growing impact in fostering cultural pride and unity within the Bharatiya diaspora.

Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh Thailand plays an important role in nurturing the values of Seva (Service), Sanskar (Values), and Sangathan (Unity). These three guiding principles shape every initiative, from cultural education to community service.

London Witnesses the Grand Spectacle of “Ram Leela 2025”

London, October 7, 2025: In a spectacular celebration of devotion, culture, and community spirit, “London ki Ram Leela 2025” lit up the grand Fairfield Halls Concert Theatre, Croydon on October 5, 2025, drawing thunderous applause from audiences and dignitaries alike.

Produced and directed by Mr Praveen Kumar under the banner of Sutton Friends, the production brought the timeless epic of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram to life with modern stagecraft, vibrant LED backdrops, live narration, and powerful performances. The event featured more than 35 talented actors and over 150 volunteers, many of whom are working professionals and homemakers who came together purely out of devotion and love for Bharatiya heritage. The makeup and costume department, led by community contributors Apeksha Gandhi, Pinki Kumar, Malti Singh, Vaishali Singh, Richa and others, received special appreciation for their creativity and dedication.

United States

In the US, the Indian Embassy joined the “vibrant” celebration of Dussehra at the ISKCON Temple in Maryland, and lauded the role played by ISKCON in promoting spirituality and interfaith harmony. The details were shared by the Embassy of India in US on October 5 (local time) in a post on X. “The Embassy joined the vibrant Dussehra celebrations at the ISKCON Temple, MD Deputy Chief of Mission Amb. Namya C. Khampa, conveyed greetings on the festival and lauded ISKCON’s role in promoting spirituality and interfaith harmony,” the embassy wrote on X.

At the heart of its activities are weekly Shakhas (community gatherings), where participants engage in physical fitness, Sanskrit prayers, moral discussions, and team-building exercises. These gatherings help develop leadership skills and cultural understanding, especially among children and youth growing up in Thailand.

Beyond routine activities, HSS Thailand actively celebrates Hindu festivals such as Diwali, Navratri, and Holi, while also organising seva initiatives including tree planting, blood donation drives, and social outreach, showing that true spirituality lies in service to others.

A Bridge Between Cultures

Thailand’s cultural landscape is deeply influenced by Hindu traditions, from temple architecture to royal ceremonies and art. HSS Thailand helps strengthen these cultural bridges, allowing the Bharatiya community to celebrate their faith while engaging respectfully with Thai society. As Thailand continues to embrace diversity, HSS Thailand stands as a reminder that faith and culture can unite rather than divide. Through HSS chapters worldwide, including Thailand, this legacy continues to inspire new generations to live with purpose, discipline, and compassion. The Vijayadashami Utsav 2025 beautifully reflected that enduring spirit, proving that even far from home, traditions can thrive, evolve, and bring communities together.
