Chikkaballapur: In a horrifying incident that has left the district in shock, a 23-year-old BCom graduate was allegedly raped twice by two men after being lured under the pretext of being given a ride home. The brutal incident took place in a secluded area along the Chikkaballapur–Gauribidanur road. The police have arrested the two accused, identified as Sikandar, a local tractor mechanic, and his friend Janardhanachari.

According to police sources, the young woman, a resident of a nearby village, had come to Chikkaballapur town in search of employment. When she failed to find a job, she decided to return to her village on foot. While walking along the road, Sikandar, who was passing by on a scooter, stopped and offered her a lift, claiming he would drop her safely at her destination. Trusting him, the unsuspecting woman accepted the offer and sat on the scooter.

However, instead of taking her home, Sikandar diverted his scooter into a deserted valley area and allegedly raped her. After the heinous act, he promised to bring her new clothes and left the scene only to return later with his friend, Janardhanachari. The two men then reportedly took the woman to the same spot again and gang-raped her.

The accused also snatched the gold earrings the victim was wearing and sold them. After committing the crime, they abandoned the traumatized woman near a petrol bunk and fled. Shocked and terrified, the victim remained at the spot through the night, unable to move or seek help due to severe mental distress.

The next morning, a local woman named Shilpagowda noticed the distressed victim and approached her. After comforting her, she learned about the horrific ordeal and immediately took the survivor to the women’s police station in Chikkaballapur.

A formal complaint was filed, and the police launched an investigation. Based on CCTV footage and mobile tower location data, both accused were tracked down and arrested within 24 hours. The victim has been provided medical care and is currently under protection at a women’s rehabilitation center.

Speaking to the media, Shilpagowda expressed outrage over the incident, saying, “The man told her he would drop her home safely but instead took advantage of her trust. He even brought his friend to commit the same crime again. It’s inhuman.”

The Chikkaballapur police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including gang rape and robbery. The case has triggered widespread anger across the district, with social activists demanding that the accused be tried under the stringent provisions of the law and given exemplary punishment to deter such crimes in the future.

Doctor sexually harassed on KSRTC bus; passengers help catch accused

A  woman doctor traveling on a KSRTC bus from Doddaballapur  to Bengaluru was allegedly harassed by a man. The quick action of fellow passengers and the bus conductor helped in apprehending the accused.

According to reports, the victim boarded KSRTC bus KA-04-F-1543 from Doddaballapur. Feroz Khan, who was on the same bus, reportedly sat next to her and began harassing her by touching her private parts. Despite repeated attempts by the doctor to avoid him, he continued his inappropriate behavior. Distressed and fearing for her safety, the victim informed her brother and the bus driver about the incident.

Upon receiving the information, the doctor’s brother immediately contacted the police. As the accused tried to escape, fellow passengers and the bus conductor intervened and managed to detain him. He was handed over to the Sanjay Nagar police station for further action.

The victim has filed a formal complaint against Feroz Khan, and the police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to sexual harassment. Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is underway, and the accused is in police custody.

The quick response from passengers and the bus staff prevented the situation from escalating further, ensuring the accused was taken into custody before he could flee.
