Former Kerala Prant Sanghchalak of RSS and senior Chartered Accountant P. E. B. Menon, popularly known as Menon Sir, passed away on October 9 at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences. He was 88.

Menon ji came into contact with the Sangh in 1976, during the Emergency, through the Sangh Pracharak late P. Madhavji. That year, he took over as the Ernakulam Zilla President of the Sangh-inspired Kerala Kshetra Samrakshana Samiti.

In 1978, P. E. B. participated in the Pradhamika Shikshana Sibiram (ITC). In 1982, he shouldered the responsibility as Chairman of the Reception Committee formed for conducting the Sangh Shiksha Varg (OTC). The same year, he was appointed Aluva Zilla Sanghchalak of the RSS. He became the Ernakulam Vibhag Sanghchalak in 1987. In 1997, Menon Sir took over as the Sah Prant Sanghchalak and continued in that position until 2003. He also carried out the duties of Prant Sanghchalak and remained in that position until 2021, when he voluntarily stepped down owing to health concerns.

Menon Sir was one of the senior-most Chartered Accountants in the state and a versatile personality. During the period of Prant Pracharak Bhaskar Raoji, Grama Seva Samiti was launched in 1980 under Menon Sir’s chairmanship in Aluva, to spearhead the Seva activities of the Sangh. Subsequently, several Seva projects were initiated under the Samiti.

He was a source of inspiration not only for Sangh workers but also for numerous projects started by Swayamsevaks in different spheres of social life across the state. He served as a friend, guide, and advisor to educational institutions affiliated with Vidya Bharati and several Sangh-inspired organisations, including those in the banking sector.

Menon Sir maintained a close rapport with Param Poojaneeya Sarsanghchalaks Balasaheb Deorasji, Prof. Rajju Bhaiyya, K. S. Sudarshanji, and Dr. Mohan Bhagwat ji.
