The 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Conference commenced in Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados, with participation from speakers and parliamentary leaders from across the globe. The Indian delegation was led by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and included Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan and Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, among others.
Organised under the theme “Commonwealth as a Global Partner,” the conference focuses on fostering dialogue, cooperation, and shared democratic values to promote inclusive and sustainable development worldwide.

Addressing the gathering, Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani described the experience of joining global parliamentary leaders as “truly inspiring.” He emphasised that democratic values will guide the world toward a more just and inclusive future.

Highlighting India’s role, Devnani noted that as the world’s largest democracy, India’s active participation in the CPA conference reinforces the country’s parliamentary traditions and commitment to democratic governance on the international stage.
