A clash occurred during a Durga murti immersion procession in the Dhanusha district of Nepal. The incident took place as the procession was heading towards Janakpur Dham and passed near the Rizvi Jama Masjid.
According to reports, tensions escalated when stones and glass bottles were allegedly thrown at the procession, leading to a confrontation between groups. In response to the situation, police intervened using tear gas to disperse the crowd and restore order.

To prevent further unrest, the district administration imposed a temporary curfew from 6:30 pm on October 2 until 6:00 am. the following day, October 3. Additional police forces were deployed in the area to maintain peace and security.
Some members of the Hindu community have reportedly expressed concerns that celebrating Hindu festivals peacefully has become increasingly difficult since Nepal was declared a secular state.
There have also been reports of Islamic groups from neighbouring countries engaging in religious outreach activities in Nepal. These include organising Tablighi events, constructing mosques, and raising funds, which some observers claim may be aimed at influencing religious demographics and encouraging conversions.
