Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on September 29, reached the protest site of unemployed youth and accepted their key demands on the spot, including ordering a CBI probe into alleged cheating in recruitment exams. The CM’s surprise intervention not only diffused the tense standoff but also won the hearts of thousands of agitating youngsters.

Arriving unannounced at the protest ground, CM Dhami directly addressed the crowd in the presence of youth leaders Bobby Panwar, Ram Kandwal, and others. With an emotional appeal, he told the protesters, “You all are my own. I am troubled by your protest. The government accepts your demands regarding cheating in recruitment exams, and I assure you of complete fairness in future recruitments.”

The Chief Minister announced that the ongoing investigation, currently under an SIT led by former Justice Dhyani, will continue, but he has formally recommended a CBI inquiry as demanded by the youth. He assured them that every recruitment process in the state would be transparent and that he himself would step in to clear any doubts.

CM Dhami also reminded the youth of Uttarakhand’s proud legacy, declaring, “This is the land of gods and heroes. Every home here has a soldier. We are proud of our soldiers and our youth, and it is your responsibility to make our country a developed nation by 2047. Together, we must take Uttarakhand to the forefront of India’s development.”

Accompanied by MLA Khajan Das, the CM further assured protesters that cases filed against unemployed youth during the agitation would be withdrawn if they submitted a list. Das appealed to the demonstrators to end their protest, saying, “Festivals are coming, everyone should return home happily. We will sit together to resolve every issue.”

The announcement immediately sparked a wave of enthusiasm and relief among the protesting youth. Slogans of “Long Live Youth Unity” echoed as they expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister. In response to his assurances, the protesters formally called off their agitation.
